Hello,
I have a 2012 Yager that I purchased new.  When it was new, I could get it up to a top speed of 70 but did not do this often. It had no problem cruising at 60 to 65. It now has 10,000 miles on it and it red lines and the over Rev light flashes at 55 -  60 and the tach jumps quite a bit. Twice now the tach has pegged and stuck there at about 63. I weigh 240, but when it was new I weighed 220. I'm wondering if this could be a part of the problem. I am going to trade it for a bigger maxi scooter and have looked at a very nice 2009 Xciting 500. Great deal, but I'm leary of it because of the issues I've been having with the Kymco I have. The other side of me says I would be dealing with a much higher class of animal. Any advice on the Yager problem and opinions on trading up to the Xciting would very much be appreciated.

Are you in your first belt? If so your chancing fate, it's worn out and if its that worn out could break. Look up the mm spec in the service manual and measure the width.

Yes it is my first belt and after reading a little bit here on the forum, that's the conclusion I came up with too. I will be trading it today for a maxi, either the Xciting 500 or a Majesty 400. Just been having a hard time deciding which way to go. Now that it seems like just a maintenance issue with the Yager, I'm leaning heavily towards the Xciting. Only other issue I have with Kymco though is the lack of dealers close by where I live.

Your belt's done, throw a new one on and a fresh set of rollers too. I replaced my belt at the 7800-mile oil change; the original belt had worn below minimum spec.

The tach behavior is consistent with an over-rev state. It'll bounce when you hit the rev limiter at 9250rpm. If you exceed 9250 for too long, the stepper motor that swings the tach hangs, not sure if it's a bug or a built-in fault state. I had a friend over-rev the crap out of my Yager on a highway and the tach stuck as-described until the ignition was power-cycled.
