buying advice
« on: July 23, 2014, 01:29:39 AM »
Hi.
I have been looking around and there is 2009 exciting listed
which I will be taking a look at. It's 2009 with 33k miles for
$2500. Anything I should look out for? here is more detail:

new tires
new belt
new clutch parts
4road LeoVince exhaust ($450)
high intensity headlamp with purple/blue tint
dr. pulley clutch and sliders (500 Euros)
mileage: 33K

20 miles since last service. dr. pulley is a performance-enhancing clutch (not a race clutch that puts wear and tear on the motor). it makes the scooter accelerate more efficiently than the original setup.

I appreciate any feedback.
Thanks for all your help.
Dean.

I have seen bikes listed on cycle trader at this price with much less miles. With the performance stuff added to the bike it makes me think it may have ridden hard? My 2 cents. :-*

with that much milage, it is definitely a used bike and very likely the seller
has made room for haggling. But I don't know if I feel safe riding that.
Riding a bike is dangerous in itself, without that added problems of a
used bike.

Here is a BRAND NEW one in LA (Moorpark), cool GOLD color with ABS. That's 5 YEARS NEWER, under warrantee, in the coolest color I've seen, with ABS!!!

Dealer is only asking $5,199, a $1,700 DISCOUNT off list. You could get great financing and keep some or most of your cash!

Budget for fixing some stuff, maxi scoots can get expensive fast. I agree with the previous post, put a grand down and finance a new one. Warranty, and you know it's NEW.

This very scooter is once again up for sale at the SAME price + 5k additional miles.  Beware as this seller was very vague when asked about this being listed again.

I agree with previous comments about that scooter being ridden hard and put up wet as we say down here in south Texas. As to mileage, my '09 has a bout 32k miles and runs great. In fact, at the last service at my LSS - local scooter shop - the tech who test rode it after service claimed that it was one of the smoothest 500s he had ever ridden. Now my scooter is always well maintained. IMHO that would be the difference between acceptable mileage and one that was "rode hared and put up wet".
