restarting scoot after 1 month
« on: October 04, 2009, 04:16:00 PM »
Hi everyone, this is not a problem but rather a form of help for anyone that needs it. Yesterday i took my scoot out of the garage after 1 month of doing nothing. Of course it would not start with the electric start or the kick start. I went straight to the spark plug and realized once i took it out that it was a little sticky. I had some cylinder oil on hand (it was the type i had for my small 2 stroke outboard) and i gave the cylinder a good spray and the tip of the spark plug as well. Put everything back together and it started right up, first crank.
So if anyone is having problems with starting after a while of non-use, i recommend trying this. The cylinder oil comes in a pressurized spray can, and the jet is quite strong so it really gets down into the cylinder.

Alternatively you can clean it with a wire brush
