Do I need to bleed the Oil
« on: August 12, 2014, 12:16:06 AM »
While reinstalling my carb, I disconnected what I now realize was  I think the oil pump outlet hose so I could get at the carb nuts easier. No oil dripped out when I disconnected the hose. Do I now have to bleed the oil pump or that hose. And if do, whats the easiest way to bleed it.
Thanks

Chris

You don't need to, but it you want to check it, crank the engine with kill switch killed and full throttle should see a few drops out that little oil hose

Thanks Bettin fo that tip.

May give that a try. The manual says to remove the hose and bend it into a U and fill with oil. The manual doesn't state to just disconnect it from one end or totally remove the hose.

Just an update.

The hose I am referring to is the Y-hose coming out of what I assume is the oilpump into the carb and into the head or cylinder. Thats the hose we disconnect anyway to remove the carb and there is no oil pump bleeding procedure specified for carb  removal and installation. I assume I'm OK. I put a few eyedroppers of oil into the gas just to be safe but will keep and eye on the oil level.

Now another issue. With the kill switch in the off position, the bike doesn't even turn over or crank, is this a newly introduced electrical issue I need to start a new thread for ? The kill switch does still work to shut down the scooter though.
