people s 200 electical/fuse issues

I have really been enjoying my scoot I picked up this spring until last week. No start no gauges. After buying a new battery I found that the main fuse was blown. further I found that the fuse that was in there was a 10 amp fuse--manual says 15A. replaced it with the spare in the scooter and hoped maybe it blew because the fuse size was inadequate. Meanwhile trying to locate 25 mm 15 amp fuses. So tuesday on my way home I stopped on an errand and again no start no gauges. Fuses not here yet so I pushed the scooter home. Ive spent some time taking off the body covers today, then actually checked the fuses. the main fuse was good but the 10 amp charging system fuse was blown. At least I have some extra of those. Meanwhile I got my shipment from amazon and they sent 22 mm not 25 mm fuses
. So do I need to go back to a 10 amp fuse for the main fuse and just put up with regularly replacing it or is something else going on? Any words of wisdom?

Oops what I was calling the main fuse is the charging system fuse and what I was calling the charging system fuse is the ignition system fuse.

Could have a bad voltage regulator, overcharging. Check the battery voltage when revving up the scooter. One question, could you kick start the bike when electrical was dead?

I could not but then I have difficulty kick starting it with a cold engine when the battery and everything electrical is fine.

I couldn't test it that way because the battery was out, but after struggling to get the front cover off I found the vr and its resistances were not up to spec. Now I am having difficulty finding a replacement.

The one that I have has a single 5-pin connector where I notice they have been replaced by one with two connectors.

The s200 always had that regulator. Look at the markings does it say d406 out d402?

Ok so it has the updated components. There was a recall in the charging system on the s200.

Are the resistance specs in the service manual the same for the d406? Is he recall update the reason for the different connector?

Like I said before the s200 never changed connectors there. The resistance check is the same for both 402 & 406

The voltage regulator and connector both look like this one.
