2014 Yamaha Zuma 50f vs 2014 Honda Ruckus

Which one do you think is better overall? Does anyone own one of these?  Which one is faster? Im leaning torwards the zuma because of fuel injection and because its a 3 valve (which may or may not be too important). Also everyone seems to report the same stock speed of 40-42mph (with rev limiter) as where the ruckus, im getting mixed results of 35-40mph. Im really looking into getting one of these as a backup for my 5mi commute to work(10mi round trip/day).  If anyone has anything at all to say id be extremely interested in what you have to say.

To me, the Ruckus looks odd but I hear they are good scoots, especially the discontinued 250 which is in high demand.

I had a 50cc Yamaha Zuma and I really liked the looks and performance if you can call 50cc stock scoots performers, however, they sure get unbelievable fuel mileage.

I would get the Zuma with the fuel injection myself.

Posted speeds . . hills?  Indiana has a 35 MPH 50cc "moped" speed limitation.  You will probably regret NOT selecting at least a 125cc scooter that is more compatible with traffic flow.

Although the 50F does NOT have a flat floorboard, it does have a front disc brake and a rear carrier.

I like the Honda mayself and if I could have landed one I'd have picked up a 250 model myself. I love the basic side of the scoot, with no plastic to break and a fold up/down seat for an extra passenger. (not sure if the 50 cc one has that or not.

Yeah i heard that too, but when i looked at honda website, i coulda swore they said its aircooled. They probably just havent updated the site. Suppose to get a front disc brake too i think? But i guess it boils down to which is faster. If the zuma is 5-7mph faster stock, ill get the zuma, but damn the ruckus looks mean.  If i could get 42mph verified, id be a happy sailor!

Yea thx for the heads up, the 35mph limit doesnt go into effect unti jan. 1, 2015. Totally didnt even kno that till u provided the link.  Doesnt change much for me though, other than having to pay for registration.  Ill get my endoresment later on for a honda cbr300r or a cb300f (my dream bikes), just usin the 50s right now till i save some proper money. (looking for used/new zuma/ruckus)  (would consider a zuma 50fx too but i dont like them colors)

The ruckus is water cooled.and drum brakes on the front and back.I do know you cant do to much up grades on theam for speed. Honda drilled holes in the motor so you cand bore theam out any bigger then what they are.

Yeah, unless you have a huge scooter presence in your area, most cops don't give scooters a second look. I rode my Super 8 150 for 5 months before finally getting my licence updated. Like Bettin said, as long as your not acting a fool, you probably wouldn't be bothered for riding a bigger scoot.
I agree with getting at least a 125 though, if you can afford one, just to keep with cagers in traffic though.

I live in Portland, OR and even though a ton of people drive scooters the PoPo doesn't know squat as far as moped/motorcycle laws are concerned.

If your looking for something to just tool around on, don't get a new 4t bike. Get an older zuma 2t or People 2t. It will STOMP those lame 4t 50s all day every day, and cost less to maintain. Plus if you feel like getting a few more MPH, a 2t is VERY easy to squeeze out a little more power, 4t isnt that easy.

If like a lot of plastic go with the zuma.if ya like bone go ruckus.
