'New' 2010 People 250 S
« on: September 06, 2014, 01:50:34 AM »
I went by the local mega motorsports store this week. They have several N.O.S 2010 S250s on the sales floor. The salesman said they have received them from the factory over the last 6 months. (I assumed he meant USA distribution). I like the style of the S250, but I am at odds with the thought as to why the factory would wait 4 years to release them. Were they lost in an Indiana Jones sized warehouse? Possibly crate damaged that were recently repaired? It seems odd to me. Any ideas?

My bet is they came from "distressed" dealers. I know of a few large volume dealers that will buy out other dealer stock, for the right price.

For a long time it was 2009 models that would seem to keep on coming.
It's all about the price and the dealer support. In 2012 I bought a 2009 S200 "factory fresh" and never an issue. The price was right and I'd do it again if the deal was right.

But the price has to be right as the resale is based on that 2010 birthday.

Based on your location I would guess you saw these at Bert's Mega Mall.  In '09 I bought 2 '07 People S250, and then again in '12 I bought an '09 Xciting 500Ri, and a '10 Xciting 500Ri ABS all from Bert's They seem to buy up left over inventory from all over the country. They come with a factory warranty what is there to be afraid of?

Yes, it was at Berts. My concern was that i have never seen old stock like that. I did not realize that it is fairly common.

There a glut, or was, of 2009-2010 scoots. The market for scoots and crashed after a banner 2008 selling season. My local dealer is always bringing in leftovers.

The only thing I like better than mamas meatballs is a leftover scoot at leftover prices.

I priced one from Berts mega mall and the out the door price was just too much... full price by the time I added up all of the service charges.... I love the People 250 S I had one for 6 years and put 50,000 miles on it with little repairs.  It fit me and I am looking for another but the price has to be right ... maybe used.

Yup,  Bert's still has some. I just bought a 2010 People S 250 at a great price. I was in between the SYM Citycomm 300i and the Kymco 300i GT. Bert's had the 300i GT for $4400 for a 2014 which is already cheaper thean anywhere else. Once I saw the 2010 People S 250 for $2,999 before dealer setup, delivery, dmv fees I decide to get one! I talked them down a little bit more too.

The added fees at Berts is what keeps me from buying there. From what I have seen, the fees add almost $1000.00 to the price. That puts the S250 at a point higher than I want to go.
If you got a better deal than what they generally offer, then you did great.

It happens with all scooter makers and MCs. You'd be surprised of the new old stock Kawi and Honda bikes I found by calling around and asking dealers what they had. Seems they don't like to advertise those bikes on their websites for some reason. Maybe it's to push the new ones, but then how do you sell something if folks don't know you have it.
