Discovered an Exhaust Leak This Morning
« on: September 23, 2014, 02:35:49 PM »
I believe Wayne had posted something similar. But alas, on my commute this morning, I lost a bolt / plug on my exhaust.

I generally wear plugs. Any how, along my commute way, my exhaust was sounding a bit different, and could have sworn I heard some popping as I rolled of the throttle too. As soon as I rolled into a parking space at work, I left the motor running, pulled off the helmet, then removed my ear plugs, sure enough! there's an exhaust leak. Fortunately, it is / was a simple fix, w/ an M6 SS screw.

By chance, would anyone happen to know the intent of this plugged threaded hole?

I've seen that happen before, only speculation but my thought was it's for a gas sniffer for tuning in a dyno. Anyway, use red loctite and it'll be in there for good.

Yeah, I lost mine too. Replaced the bolt with an additional split lock washer. Worked like a charm.
