Don't they make thing's difficult!!
« on: October 17, 2014, 09:07:27 PM »
I ordered a new rear tyre which is due for delivery on Monday so I thought I would get myself a little ahead and remove the rear wheel while I am waiting...............what a job!!!!

1, you have to remove the exhaust heat shield because it is in the way of the top exhaust retaining bolt.
2, remove rear brakes, undo two bolts, undo two brake line retaining screws.
3, undo exhaust end can to downpipe clamp.
4, undo three exhaust bolts and remove exhaust.
5, undo lower suspension bolt.
6, undo five screw/bolts from rear mudguard and remove.
7, undo rear wheel retaining bolt, and two further bolts at the right hand end of the wheel retaining arm(??)

you may think that that is it, slide the wheel off and away you go!! no chance!! because of the positioning of the suspension, the shock absorber won't go back (or forward) enough for you to take the wheel off!!

8, remove seat.
9, remove under seat storage compartment.
10, undo and remove TOP suspension bolt.
11, remove shock absorber
12, remove wheel yaaaaaayyy!!
13, make a brew and enjoy!!

don't get me wrong, it is quite an easy job, just a lot of bolts and screws to remove so just be prepared  ;D
cheers,
Don.

I work on boats. Have done so for 40 some years.
They install all the components in the hull, and then install the top deck. It's the same for every boat made.
I worked for a Luhrs Yachts when I first came to Fl, as an advisor/prototype finisher. At dinner one night Warren Luhrs was defending this policy, and I insisted we should change the way a generator was installed in a particular model. He said it didn't matter cause he would be long dead before it became an issue. He has passed a few years ago, and I had to remove one of these generators a few months ago. I charged the customer 4k in labor to cut the swim platform/transom off the boat to install a new gen set.
Fond memories...

Working on scooters is how I relax. I guess it's all relative.

Actually your Part 2 wasn't necessary, you just have to remove BOTH of the bottom bolts that attach the rear shocks to the rear components, then the swing arm will drop low enough.

If you do this  check the air intake to the throttle body, it will come loose,     done that too,

Thought about that kneeslider, but I rekoned it would be a pain trying to  lift the swing arm back up to line up the bolt holes again.
And then I read de dee's reply, and, knowing my luck, that would happen to me and that would probably be another pain trying to reconnect that!!
Cheers,
Don.

Yes, it did come loose, but that's easier to rectify than taking out the tub etc.

this is a simple plug it back on and tighten the O clamp,.
