Cops pulling over 50cc scoots.
« on: October 19, 2014, 05:28:54 AM »
Coming home from work I watched a cop sitting on the side of the road waving in 50cc scoots. There was more than one and they were not together. They looked very happy so I'm thinking he may have been giving them tickets for impeding the flow of traffic. I have been seeing more of them going down a larger main street where I drive to and from work. I guess someone called and complained to the police.

Yea here they need a low power scooter registration, which is cheap no reason to not have it. A DL and have liability insurance. Many do not have those requirements.

I find it odd that the most economical form of transportation  (approx 100 gallons of fuel for the entire year)  takes so much heat from the general public. 50cc terrorists should be awarded for what we do.

To hell w/ the nay sayers!

Oh. Well that explains everything. I guess the Liquor stores are feeling the pinch, and loosing customers.

Has anyone noticed that rolling papers now cost almost three bucks?  WTF?? ?? ??

Upon looking at the street view I commented, "Wow, not alot of green in that shot."

Hold up your rights and ask, "What crime am I being suspected of?" You don't have to show ID unless suspected of a crime, riding a scoot of less than 50 cc does not give resonable suspicion IMO.

The last few weeks I have been seeing the little scoots slowing traffic like crazy. I come up on a line of cars in the other lane going slow and by the time I get to the front there's a toa toa slowing things to a crawl. Makes me think someone may have called the police and complained. Just a guess of course.
Now, if there delivering pot it's the slowest delivery system ever. I would love to be on that call. "Sure, we can get that out to you. Sit back and relax and it will be there in about 2 hours!"

Why are drugs eventually part of scooter discussions??

I found this and thought it was interesting:
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CB4QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fazbikelaw.org%2Fblog%2Fmoped-and-motorized-bicycles-in-arizona%2F&ei=jjhEVN3JLIeYyQTTroG4Dw&usg=AFQjCNFdRphYTxS7dYt1dyVzkCE5UBsqfw&sig2=glrRCGhsreh8-buxMMdZrA

Laws relating to 2 wheel vehicles of any kind are quite complex in all of Arizona and more so in phoenix. Leo's may have found that the smaller-weed eater type scooter riders aren't complying with DMV laws on registration, insurance and licensing, so they are checking them out. 49cc scooters that are hopped up to go faster than the law says (30 mph) are in violation of the 49cc scooter laws and become 'motorcycles' as far as the law is concerned.

A crack head, DUI convicted rider of a scooter under 50cc, riding double, with flip flops, no helmet and gym trunks, pulling in and out of traffic, with no registration, license nor insurance of any kind, is an accident waiting to happen and may cause a situation where innocent people are harmed or killed so as far as I'm concerned, profile them and pull them all over and check them out and if they don't comply then confiscate the scoot until compliance is met, for the scoot and rider. Oh and check for Zig-Zags, drugs and kiddie porn.

Yes, I am a very pro-law enforcement person:)

I'm with porkie on this. They are not getting pulled over because of the speed issue. They are getting pulled over because the majority of people riding them are violated registration laws. Look at the minimum speed laws on the freeways it's 40 on a 55 or a 65 mph road. that's a whole 15-25 mph less. So on a road that is 40 MPH doing 30 is very much within the law. Now if your only doing 15 -20 then maybe they might go after you. So the speed thing does not hold water for that reason.

I said this before...
What about the un-skilled guy/gal that can not afford a car to get that 8.50 an hour job that's 8 miles from home in a town w/ no public transport.

Want to support them on welfare? I F'n dont! If 50cc's is all someone can do, and they do NOT have the money to pay for all the bureaucratic BS to support wars/welfare/lobbyists... Leave them to do the best they can

I'll put my house on the fact there are MANY more thousands of convicted felons riding around in cars that have nothing but a stolen gun, and a gram of meth in the glove box (no reg. no insc/no title) that OUR tax dollars (welfare) paid for.

Suppose this, and suppose that... You all know I am right.
You can tell I'm sort of sick of the people that have NO CLUE how hard life is for some. I've given away more scooters/bicycles than I can remember, just so people have a way to get to work.
When it come to pearly gates time... I'll be the sniper behind St Pete. Some of you might have him fooled but give me a clean line...
