New tire recommendations for the People 150???

I've tried to search the forum archives for an answer to this, didn't find one... Forgive me if I missed it but here goes:

There are lots of recommendations on other forums for great scooter tires (Michelin, Pirelli, Avon... etc...) but none of these seem to have the sizes used for the People 150:  80/80-16 front, 80/100-16 rear. 

Any recommendations for replacement tires better than the stock OEM ones?

Although I do not ride that scoot, I have found stepping UP in tire size to help on every scoot I have owned. Taller should be done in pairs to maintain the steering geomitry. Wider can be done one at a time. A slightly wider tire will improve your cornering and your overall confidence on the scoot. Someone else may have the ideal make/ model tire for you, but any of the Manuf. you posted are a vast improvement over the stock tire. "If it fits-Run it"

Thanks Zombie, I must admit feeling a bit cautious with that skinny front 80/80-16 tire... still, it's rated at 93 mph, and I can't get the scoot over 65!  What tire sizes would you then recommend? 

Anyone else with similar or differing opinions on the matter of increasing tire size?

Avon makes the AM63 Viper Stryke tires for scooters.

OEM front tire = 80/80-16
Viper Stryke front tire, either 100/80-16 or 110/70-16

OEM rear tire = 100/80-16
Viper Stryke rear tire 120/80-16

Are these increases too much?

As long as they fit, it sounds like a pretty sporty set up! The slightly lower profile in th front will in effect change the attack angle in corners, giving a quicker/ lighter feel, and the wider rear should build confidence in the scoot. I am 2 sizes up on my zx rear, and 1 on the front w/ both being 2 wider. It feels like a totally different scoot. Right now they are Kenda which really don't perform at top speed (they tend to develop a bounce), so I plan to use the Pirelli on my next change out. There are not too many things on a scoot that cannot be changed from the recommendations.

..I have a Viper Stryke on the front of my Agility...I love it!...It's extremely sure-footed, even in a driving rain...

I doubt very much that you'll be able to fit any other size tire than the OEM size. Anything else might rub or, wouldn't even fit the rim. I've looked everywhere for an option to the OEM tires. SAVA is the only one I found. Not sure how good it was on wet surfaces, I stuck with the Cheng Shin OEM's.

The rim size will Always be the same< and you are right that some sizes may rub. Even the same size from 2 different Manuf> may not be the same. I however am a FIRM believer in making things better than they are. I have the tools to change things (within reason), and would not shy away from a minor mod to get better traction/ stability. If the fender has to be moved..., or a mounting point needs to be changed... Just saying , some are "purists" while I like to shake things up a little. If someone is uncomfortable w/ the advice I have... NO harm! There are loads of tires within the limits of the scoot, it's just something may need to be modded.

The Metric tire size system is the most common and also the most descriptive. Metric sized tires are used on just about every type of motorcycle, from the latest sport bikes, to cruisers, touring bikes and everything in between. An "M" sometimes precedes a metric size when there is no speed rating used. It simply means that it is a motorcycle tire. Another letter is sometimes used after the speed rating to indicate belted (B) or radial (R) tire construction.

In the first example above, 180 is the width in millimeters, 55 is the aspect ratio (cross-section height is 55% of the width), Z is the speed rating (149+ mph), R specifies it's a radial construction tire, and 17 is the wheel diameter in inches.
