The weather is currently 27F here in Denver, a few flurries last night, but allegedly no snow accumilation. I ride if the roads are not slick. My scooters are my only transportation. If they're more than an inch of snow I don't ride. If it's icy I don't ride. I usually rent a car in those times. I ride 28 miles from home to work and back usually at 630 am and 5 pm. Carburated bikes don't do so well under 32 F.

Tell us how you really feel...... Some have to prove how "macho" they are and some have to prove the chip on their shoulder is the biggest.  Don't be offended it's just how I feel.

Chip on my shoulder because stupid people ride in frostbite type weather and on the snow? Hardly! ::)

Make sense when you challenge someone. :o

Sam ;)

I'm good in any reasonable temp, but any sign of ice or snow build up I'll call in to work. Cutting out at 45o is a little wimpy imo!

Right now I am naked, and texting from my scoot. I am on I-95 North, and enjoying a soy moca latte, and rolling a joint.
Using my night vision goggles I am also sketching a portrait of the tractor trailer in front of me.

the only reason I am posting all of this is the damn woman in the SUV I just passed is putting her lipstick on. That crazy bit"h is gonna kill someone.
Thank god it's warm here in Fl.. I can put the cruise control on, and take a nap.

@Porkie, your opinion holds a god deal of logic and as a whole I don't disagree with you. I ride in all temps, I dress right and my ride to/from work is all of 10-15 minutes so getting frost bite isn't much an issue for me.

I do however have a slight problem with your delivery, I'm sure you could have dressed up your words to make them more palatable, just as I have done in my reply to you. In the interest of keeping this a friendly forum why not retract a phrase or 2 and everyone will know you’re not a raving lunatic.

Riding in the snow on a 2 wheeled scoot is dangerous to yourself and those around you, I don't ride when there is the chance to slip and fall, I stop riding in the winter once we get accumulating snow cause the plows will push it to one side of the road and it melts in the noon day sun and turns to ice after sunset and causes a whole new problem.

Have I taken my scoot out in some snow when no other drivers were on the road, hell yeah, it was fun doing 360's in front of my house. I certainly don't want to be the guy sliding under some truck or other driver causing them nightmares and regret the rest of their lives.

Be polite, and others will be. Have a nice day.

Maybe there should be an organization called the: FIBA : The frozen Iron Butt association ...
IBA Finland provides regular "Ice Butt ss1000" rides starting at Nordkapp in Jan or Feb.
But (imho) the first were Russians.

You probably never saw professional riders on ice. But I did.
Since 1966, Russian riders have won the Ice Racing World Championship 40x - nearly every time! US riders: 0x.

If I were a Law enforcement office in Denver and saw a guy riding a scooter in the snow on public roads, I'd cite them for 'exhibition of stupid." A person sliding around on snow, on public roadways, who can't accelerate, turn or stop using more than 1/2 horsepower and 1 mile per hour is a public menace, endangering other's lives. You can buy real cheap used cars that would be so much safer, with a heater and very little chance of frostbite.

Don't be offended, it's the way I feel: There seems to be a 'MACHO' thing with some bike/ scooter riders where for some reason they are 'EGO' driven to tell folks about their super-human ability to be out in the elements and prove their worth.

Every winter the freezing ride reports start.

Sam:)

Pardon me, but I don't see any little :) faces on this reply. After reading your latest reply now you just come off as an unforgiving arse.

To others, I love how Porkie says he rode in snow slowly, you know how slow he was going? A rabbit with snow shoes was hoping faster than he was.

Back to the Porkster, the over use of the smile face only shows your trying to appear as friendlt but in reality your rude and want others to look at you as being the "VOICE OF REASON". Now when people don't accept you as sooo much smarter than others you get pissy.

Sorry little piggy, you lose a point on this one.

This was an honest chance for open conversation. I still dont see anyone trying to act "macho". I believe you chose an inappropriate time and place to dust off the soap box and brush them chips off your shoulders. The most ironic part is I've never witnessed people doing what you are so passionately against. I realize it happens but not to a point that sombody could possibly build up so much sand in their vaginal cavity.

BTW to the OP. I ride all year as long as there is no ice or snow. It saves me money, I am working class and it has nothing to do with proving something.

For folks who only have a scoot to ride my hats off to them for riding in any weather and getting it done. For me a scoot is just for fun, for me 45deg is the lowest and no limit on the heat. Anything below 45deg is just painful and takes away from the pleasure of the ride. Rain, ice or snow fergetabout it. Too damn dangerous for me. It's half the scoot not having traction, the other half cars not having traction and driving like idiots. To each his own there's no wrong or right on this issue just personal choices.
