For folks who only have a scoot to ride my hats off to them for riding in any weather and getting it done. For me a scoot is just for fun, for me 45deg is the lowest and no limit on the heat. Anything below 45deg is just painful and takes away from the pleasure of the ride. Rain, ice or snow fergetabout it. Too damn dangerous for me. It's half the scoot not having traction, the other half cars not having traction and driving like idiots. To each his own there's no wrong or right on this issue just personal choices.
well said.I ride because its all I have and I only go 2 miles a day to get back and forth to work.slow and easy all the way.I stay away from trafic as much as I can keep my distance.

I f'n love this...

I get your point 100% Sam. There is a rampant "macho" attitude on other forums regarding winter riding. I also understand why you chose to address that here.
None of us really look at winter riding as a contest. Some of us do it because there is no other option, and you did point that out in the very first response you posted. I get it.

Your comments on dangerous assholes is also fair but honestly I can see how it was taken as an assault by some (008) . I post similar crap that no one appreciates... re: speeding/splitting lanes, ect.

This is the FIRST time I have seen any of our group go at each other. It has to stop or I am turning the car around, and no one gets anything for dinner.

)8, you know I love all you guys, and I do get the reason you posted what you did. Keep in mind that Sam is a Mason, and when the sh** hits the fan a high ranking hostage may buy a bit of time. Try not to scare him off or tip our hand just yet. He may come in handy is all I'm sayin'

Sam, don't read that last paragraph...

Max, oh Max...What can I say that you don't already know... welcome to my world. When my new Axy does show up... I'll share him w/ all of you.

It's funny because I have ridden my scooters off road, across rivers, and have been car less for ten years. Lived in TX, OR, NM, HI, and CO. Most people in Denver who ride bikes tell me it's possible to ride year round. Most cagers don't think so.  The scooter's lower center of gravity and wide tires make it easy to ride. Like I said I ride when possible, up to 1/2 inch of snow it's ok, the weight and good tires make it possible. I do see some motorcyclist ride also, but I think the scooter offers great weather protection with the appropriate gear. After about a week of the same temperatures you get used to the cold.

Closer to the ground is the key IMHO. Less distance to fall, and the walk thru style offers a quicker escape route.

If anyone see's Sam riding down the road... Jump off your bike, and watch his reaction.

08087, wow, you try to sound like the voice of reason sweeti-pie but with your name calling, you show yourself an idiot. Dry your tears cry baby and hug your boyfriend and get over it. I assume you are a girl?

This was about the insanity of riding in cold and dangerous conditions and then some of you internalized it to be an attack on you personally. No names were mentioned at all. Like Mommy told you, it's all about you dumpling!

Grow up scooter kid's and MAN up, if possible.

You 08087, hide behind your anonymity and post like you have balls because you can act tough in front of your keyboard and impress your 'following.' A typical liberal.

Sam:)

By the way,' PORKIE' was the name of my first Harley Davidson Electra Glide.

Sorry little piggy wiggy, I'm far from a lib and I thought you said it was all a joke, now you were trying to make a point? Well which is it? Seems the joker has his panties in a bunch now, Sam....is that short for Samantha? Wiggle your nose and disappear little piggy wiggy.

When you come down off your high horse I'll allow you to talk to me again, for now your on block. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D Who's laughing now?

No offence but when you directly call people stupid if they ride in slick conditions, some people are gonna take take the wrong way, as if your name calling. Some folks have what they have, maybe just a scooter and no means in a struggling economy to buy multiple bikes, and cars. You say "simply buy used car." But to some of us that's the exact reason why we're on scooters in the first place, even if the car is only $500 there's still at least $100 a month insurance, high gas prices, and having to park a car "just in case its cold". I wanted to stay quiet in this but your attack on 08 was childish and not the definition of manning up. Also what does any of this have to do with political belief? That sir, is typical Republican behavior.

Nice try, reasoning with him, but I tried being nice and reasonable with my first response and got zippo for it, actually got kicked in the nuts, so the gloves are off. Good of you to try but somehow I doubt it will work, of course he could go for the reverse phycology route (spelling) and come out all Mr. wonderful and stuff.

We could really use some more descriptive smilies here. One of my distillation forums has a couple hundred.

The smiles w/ Jedi laser swords or the ones w/ Machine guns would be perfect here.

I was talking BEHAVIOR and mentioned NO NAMES. If any took it personally then so be it as it must have hit home. If I didn't care about the safety situation of riding in the snow, ice and cold, in traffic, I could have just been silent or congratulated the folk's that have to do so for their daring and extreme dedication to 'being in the wind.' We have lots of 'black ice' around here, loose snow and just sheet ice caused by the snowplows scraping the snow down to the ice, making driving perilous for even 4x4's like mine, more less a scooter. I realize that some of you may be forced to ride because the scoot is your only transportation but just be careful. 8)
You don't have to mention names, you made a comment and others here have mentioned that they ride in snow and ice conditions, so your comment would be pointed at them as well as any others that had not declared themselves riders in the white.
08087, if you had someone you cared for and they mentioned that they rode in ice or snow, would you mention it at all or as the all knowing voice of reason just sigh and keep it to yourself? No, I think that even you would say something. :'(

Now, you can continue to hide behind your keyboard, in your rented brownstone in Jersey and type out your vitriolic nonsensical diatribe in your anonymity and be all macho and tough with your name calling all day and it still won't hide the fact that your communication skills aren't there, if when you find yourself at a loss of words, you resort to name calling and 'picking on' screen names. Study 'Rhetoric' in your plentiful spare time and learn how to debate without falling into your childish emotions. Have a nice day and dry your tears. ::)

Don't cry for me Argentina as I'll be fine. 8)

Sam ;)

Of course I'd have something to say, just not in the way you went about it. That was pointed out in my very first post, trying to reason with you to use some tact, you didn't seem to get it, oh well.

I don't hide behind my keyboard, several members here know where I live and if your man enough to pay me a visit I'll tell you where you can find me, but I doubt you'll make the trip, maybe not man enough??? I don't live in a brownstone, and I don't rent either, I own my home, matter of fact I own 2 homes and 2 investment properties too, need a place to live, did your mom through you out yet? JJ of course.

If memory serves me you were the one to call names of others in the OP, but maybe I'm mistaken, but I doubt it, I'll go back and read it again. (Macho, ego and STUPID) aren't name calling your right! LOFL!

No emotion on my part, just a simple attempt to show you there might be a better way of getting your valid point across, you failed to or were so egotistical to recognize I was trying to assist.

Now read my signature and have a laugh at yourself, take a deep breath and realize you've made a mistake just as I have. I realize you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Good day sir.
