After almost a month of blood, sweat, and tears, she's finally up to my standards! Finally cut the other extra pipe off of the exhaust and welded it shut. That was the money! That missing pull, the lack of top end, and the embarrassment of making all that racket and not going anywhere quick is now gone! Steady flats of 75km/hr on the dash, probably about forty mph, haven't taken the GPS with me yet. Downhill, haven't let it climb much past the numbers to avoid hurting it, and I was already killing it on a 45 mph road through the traffic.
Still has the odd higher than idle, about 3k+, at lights or stops after wot. I'm going to replace the gasket for the intake at the reeds. That's my guess is where a vacuum leak could be.
Also, after the afternoon of great performance, besides the high stopped idle, I thought to try the iridium plug. It's properly gaped, a/f mix seems acceptable, but it still wants to die after periods of wot. Gonna drop the regular back in if it doesn't settle down.
To end my rambling is like to thank zombie, bettinandlosin (sp??), and Chaz, amongst the others that chimed in on my noob threads and dumb questions, and provided me with answers to questions I never had to ask. I greatly appreciate ya'lls patience with me. I came into the two stroke world without a clue and now I feel like I have learned a bit. With out you guys I would've blown it up, not known how to put it back together, or gave up and sold the thing by now. Hats off to ya!
