#$!!%$# spark plug!!!!!
« on: January 03, 2015, 04:49:57 PM »
Question:  Where is the damn spark plug in a 08/09 Xciting 500?  And well we are at it...the fuel pump.

Clear step by step inspections and pictures/video's be great.

Start by downloading or buying a copy of the service manual. The spark plug is buried in the center of the cylinder head, you need a very long extension. The fuel pump if on the left hand side below the floor panel (if your bike is carbureted). You have to take off plastic to get to both.

Take off plastic with 10mm socket at console hump.

Youll need 2 to 3 extension on ratchet. I can remove spark plug wuthout removing plastic, but now I usually check spark plug when plastic is off!

Just little plastic cover and one screw. Simpler than most scoots on the road. You have a tool kit under your seat. Strapped into bottom of seat cavity. Never used it, but it is supposed to be able to remove plug with the tools supplied. Pump filter is right under your left foot. I took plastic off one side, and bent/lifted up plastic to replace filter. My beast is carbed.  :-*

Never did find the spark plug but the bike is up and running.  Read about that adventure on the link to the blog below.
