Winter HONDA Project
« on: January 14, 2015, 04:28:43 AM »
Hey everyone, just wanted to share what I've been getting back on the road. It's a 1973 Honda CL70 Scrambler. The motor blew up on my cousin years ago, he bought the Lifan 140cc motor for it but never finished it, cut to the chase I got it for $400 from him a month ago or so. Just got it on the road this last weekend.

I frigin LOVE it!

The bikes not so bad either... ;D

Have you ever seen how to pull out those little dings w/ a suction cup, and crazy glue?
Seriously... You glue the cup to the tank, and give it a few tugs. To get it off a few drops of Acetone will dissolve the glue.

I ALWAYS test the Acetone on an inconspicuous place first by taping a small shred of clothe soaked w/ it, and letting it set for 5 minutes.

Just thinking out loud... Nice bike! Kudos!!! 8)

Neatest ride I've seen around here in a long time. Best of luck and a project well worth taking on.

There's a market for those and the CT70 models. Might have a brand new scooter sitting there. Folks in RVs like to have those for riding around the RV park.

That's so cool. Can it get to 55mph? What was the purpose of these when it was sold? Just a city cruiser?

Yes its all original, in nice shape for 40 yr old paint! With the 140cc engine it'll go about 55-60. They produced these as dual sports, on an off road. Like 2 wheel said camping, hunting, etc. It has the raised exhaust so you don't light brush in fire. And 2 wheel, i already have it on Craigslist haha. I posted it as soon so saw the kbb for this year.

Before I even look it up, I'd guess 8-900.00 KBB, and in reality I'd pay 14-1,500.00. It is a little gem!

Holy Toledo!  I hope you listed it for 2g's. The Lifan engine can go either way (plus or minus). Add in Chicago Craigs... Murder Club will scoff it up! 8)

Sorry to hear you're selling it.
Maybe trade it for a nice low mile Reflex!
My first vehicle was a new white Honda 90 in 1967 - that little thing carried my wife and me all over Mass. Even out to dinner...this was before safety riding gear - she got a LOT of honks wearing mini skirts on the back. We had helmets of course....
Shoot - I'd get distracted when I saw our reflections in a store front window!!
(she is a blond from SoCal)
A n y w a y.....that was an amazing little bike. When all you own for wheels is a motorcycle - and you live in the wilds of Amherst, Mass., you better own a Honda. (Next vehicle was a VW bus --- same/same there)
Been totally sold on Hondas ever since (5 of them now)(7 VWs - but quit 'em for a pair of bullet-proof xB's)
I am all about reliability. Period.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.
