Bet and Win 250 Coolant?
« on: January 16, 2015, 05:08:54 PM »
I have a B&W 250 from 2003. Does this scooter have an aluminum engine or not? What type of coolant should I use in it? TIA

Yes it is aluminium, and any type of MC antifreeze is fine. I think B&L knows what comes in them,if you are just looking to top yours off, so hang tight, and see if he spots your post.

Bottom line is any low silica (sand) antifreeze is fine if you have flushed the system. Gone are the days of mumbo jumbo colors, and types.

Zombie hit that one on the head, you NEED to use silicate free coolant. The silicate is like sand and these scooters use a mechanical seal for the waterpump. I LOVE the BelRay Motochill coolant.

I'm a huge fan of the BelRay product line, they have great stuff. If you are just topping the coolant off, go get a gallon of distilled water and use that.
If your going to flush your coolant, you want to make sure and have a couple gallon drain pans. Then remove the radiator cap and the "bleed hose" going to the thermostat. Then drain the coolant out from the little 8mm drain bolt on the water pump (behind the muffler header). It's pretty easy, just make sure to warm the bike up first, then wait about 20 minutes then drain. Fill up with distilled water then drain again. Then fill with premixed coolant. You want to idle the bike with the radiator cap off to "burp" all the air out of the system, shake the bike side to side gently and you will see large bubbles come out the radiator cap, idle until ALL of these bubbles stop. The BelRay stuff kept my coolant down one full bar on the gauge! Bet and Win power!!!!!!!
