..the wire is maybe 1/8" deep in the casing...right in the "top" edge...

Dude...before I start hacking-away on the CDI unit with a hack saw (inside a miter box), I want to see yours in-person.  I want to somehow see the wire that was sliced.  Can we get together and do that, soon?  Once I get done I'll post some good pics of the mod.  Once I see exactly where the wire is located and maybe get some measurements, I may just use a Dremel tool to do this.

Thanks!

go to scootertherapy.com and check out their pic of cdi derestriction, you are going for a wire that is basically covered in epoxy to protect the circuit, it is actually a greean wire and is right next to back edge about 1/4 inch in, you may not see the wire, but I went 1 swipe at a time with the hacksaw and actually saw the wire and the green plastic around the wire, be sure to have good light while you are doing this!! Be sure to check out scooter therapy.com for cdi derestriction, very good site. Let us know how it goes!!

SeanOaloha,

Went to scootertherapy.com, but saw nothing about cdi derestriction.  Can you post a link to this information at Scooter Therapy.

Thanks!

After you make the cut a little epoxy will seal it all back up. A little water in there, and you may not realize what the problem is.

I didnt have epoxy, so I used 2 pieces of electrical tape, one on either side of the inside of the cut then a piece all the way around the cdi on the end, epoxy is the much better way to go but if you have no $$$ and no epoxy you can go the cheap route and still be pretty waterproof

Every little bit helps. I can see water getting into the slice, and not being able to figure why the scoot is cutting up, and down in rpm,s. Thinking about your post re; Hawian rain. Aloha...

...I saw a 2009 cdi yesterday, that scootermaven has... he shaved off the whole end of it's cdi, and never did find a wire to cut...

..I think the part # on the cdi was D406...had a KYMCO logo on it...

Here's the photo of my trimmed CDI unit from a 2009 KYMCO Agility 50.  To this point, neither myself or "wordslinger" has seen any such green rev limiter wire to be cut.  Perhaps KYMCO has changed the location of this wire on the '09 CDI's for some reason.  Any ideas on this anyone?  You can see photos of the unit before I started trimming on it further up in this topic.  I would love to see a photo of someone's stock '09 CDI.  It could be that someone has already replaced my stock CDI unit with a unrestricted CDI unit, but I am not sure, as I am the third owner of the relatively low-mileage scooter.

Sure, why wouldn't it?  Nothing of any importance/significance was cut and it was very carefully trimmed.  If only I could have found that green wire.
