New info on X700
« on: November 02, 2009, 02:17:36 AM »
I was down at the local dealer "Station Park" in Louisville yesterday and Dean the GM said the X700 was scheduled to ship to the US mid summer of 2010 and would probably be labeled a 2011 model.  He does not have a price yet.  He also said first one was already sold...

I am curious, how many here are interested in the myroad 700??

I know I am for multiple reasons.

So here is my thinking if enough people email kymco maybe it will help the cause to bring this machine to the USA!

Unfortunately, not me.

I own two Kymcos, had Kymco before them, but  X700 is a dud compared to already existing and available Gilera GP800.
The price is the same.

I wouldn't compare the Myroad with the GP800, because the Myroad is more like the Burgman 650: comfort and safety (ABS). Imho the GP800 has to compete with traditional motorcycles - and does hard to justify its existence.

But nevertheless 7995 Euro for a Myroad seem a little bit much for me. Would would I gain in comparison to my Xciting 500 (4895 Euro list price in 2007)? The only thing I really miss is an ABS.

But my dealer was impressed by a test drive on the Myroad - of course he want's to sell.

What do you think about the following reasoning: if Myroad had more hp and better performance, it would be compared to GP800, considering it is on the weak side, there is no point doing so, so it has to be compared to Burgman 650?

What adds insult to injury is the pricing strategy in the same level as GP800...

If that would be the most important aspect, I would take the new BMW S 1000 RR.
Or something cheaper. But definitely no scooter!
Not even the Xciting, of course.

In Germany 7995 (MyRoad) vs. 9549 Euro.

But the Mana is listed with 9499 Euro, _cheaper_ then the GP800.
The Mana is also available with ABS and touring set (wind shield, 2 side cases and topcase).

So what would be your reasons for buying the GP800?

hahaha....
I can tell You that GP800 is spectacular GT scooter and there is no other brand that can be even close to GP800. :D I like kymco too but have to be honest. Also GP800 is pure prestige and luxury.

I saw your reply just now.

First, Mana is not a scooter, while both MyRoad and GP800 are, in true sense of the word.

Finally, I would not be buying neither GP800 or Myroad.

I think I would even not buy any scooter with more 250-300 cc, I would rather buy a "real" bike. Maybe, but MAYBE 500 if I could get extremely competitive offer, 40 % below price, for example...

After reading this thread today I fired off an email to Kymco marketing and just got a reply. NO 700 this year, too much involved in bringing in a new model and US is not one of the priorities...   :'(

That is the feeling I get every time I have to deal with Kymco USA.   US is not one of the priorities...

The MyRoad 700i is being "promoted" in Taiwan...

so it's on its way.

No word on N.Am.

That is the feeling I get every time I have to deal with Kymco USA.   US is not one of the priorities...

USA and Europe were priorities when there was extra money in USA and Europe and therefore market requirements to be fulfilled.

With the new redistribution of powers and the fact that USA and Europe are drowning slowly in their own financial and political s**t, it is clear that things are about to change.

Now that there is extra money in BRIC countries (Brasic/Russia/India/China), it is understandable that corporations will concentrate on those markets that are growing.

This is valid not only for Kymco, but for most consumer product companies. I hear the same story about car companies on some other forums.
