change in idle while holding brake in
« on: November 06, 2009, 02:11:54 AM »
I was wondering if you guys out there with the newer agility 50cc's do you ever hear and feel a change in idle when you press the brake at a stop? I get a pretty substancial change, does that mean that my idle needs to be adjusted?? The idle is a little high right away in the morning but I warm it up until the idle speed goes down on its own, then the idle sounds sweet.

I'm assuming that the drops?  That's probably due to the extra power draw to turn on your brake lights.  I notice that on my zx50 occasionally.  It probably doesn't need to be adjusted unless the motor dies as a result.

From the way you explain that, I would suggest you are adding more SOLID MASS to the frame when you apply the brake. The tire /wheel are basicly floating untill the brake pads make a mechanical bond to the rest of the frame. I think you are simply getting a different resonation due to more mass...

I have a super 8 150 and noticed this also but only when I brake with the left brake. I tried each one separate and it only happens on the left (rear) brake while stopped at a light/stop sign.

My thought was since you need to hold the left brake when starting and it has an automatic choke, it is this automatic choke that I notice. What do you think?

..the A50 has the Auto-bystarter, but once everything is warmed up, it shouldn't come into play...

..wonder if the brakelight wiring is crossed up whith the A/B wiring....

Still thinking it's a MASS deal... If it were the choke on a warm engine at idle I'm sure it would stall

Axy got me into touching the screen... Can I get an AAAAMMMMEEEENNNN. Just another thought, Maybe the rubber engine mounts (isolaters) are worn. This may decrease the spiritual aspect. Still like the mass idea.
