Exhaust muffler srcew help!!!
« on: March 01, 2015, 11:07:43 AM »
Today accidentaly discover this center screw at the exhaust muffler tube. You see it on the picture.
If I took it out, gas came out, and the muffler sound became like an Akrapovic... :D  8)

What is the function of that little screw? May I take it out? I like this heavier sound... Will it cause any problem in the future?

I have a barely used (200km)14gr Dr Pulley rollers to SELL!! Send a PM if you interested in...

I don't know the role of this screw but if you removed it ,that would be as a leak in the exhaust system.

Stop "noise polluting!"

And besides the above, yes, it could cause a condition that could harm your engine...  Not a good idea IMO.

Don't kill me!!! :D It is not so bad. It is not louder than a legal Leo Vince or Akrapovic stuff... In Hungary you can use a little more sound for your own protection against the cars...

So any idea about the srcrew? Do you have the same??

The carb or fuel injection is metered to a set amount of back pressure. Changing that pressure requires re jetting or re mapping.

Most of us have speculated that hole is there for an "In House" emmisions inspection before the bike leaves the factory.

That tiny hole isn't to matter much for your AFR with factory mapping.  The same mapping is used and scooters are sent all over the world using what ever fuel is available at that destination.

The tolerance just isn't big enough to cause any harm.

I agree.  I like things quite but It is probably too small to matter.  To be save check your spark plug ever so often to make sure it isn't too white "lean burn" and of course 2am is the time to really open the throttle. ;)

My entire heat shield for held on by those two screw completely fell off.  Buying a replacement part doesn't include the screws. But any workshop would have them. They aren't special items.

I suggest using some locktite on them when you fit the new screws.
