Yes, we have a very damp. can rust, I'll try to clean
I had some minor surface rust under the small heat shield on the exhaust. I used a wire brush to rub off the rust and then used a few coats of rust remover gel to remove as much rust as possible then I washed it and turned the engine on and rode around a little to get the exhaust very hot and evaporate all moisture on the pipe and then let it cool and painted it with heat reiststant paint up to 400c and then when it was touch dry I rode around again to get the exhaust really hot and bake the paint on and I did two coats and since then I haven't see any sign of rust again.
You will have to paint over that because simply removing the rust won't be enough it will keep coming back and it will spread under the paint. You should also consider using acf 50 or scotoiler fs365 or even some wd 40 to form a layer over the metal and protect it from the moisture in the future.
Remind me I need to jetwash my rear suspension forks...they are filthy.
