ZX50 carburetor inlet fitting

Hey guys.  I have a 2004 ZX50, recently the oil inlet fitting popped out from the carburetor.  I put the fitting back into the inlet where I thought the direction of the nipple would be facing (11:00 position).  After a few days I noticed a flat spot in acceleration.  I did the usual carb clean, spark plug replacement, fuel filter replacement and air filter cleaning and got no improvement.  I concluded that the oil inlet fitting must be at to much of a steep angle allowing excess oil to enter the carb causing the stumble.  I put the fitting nipple in the 9:00 position hoping it would fix the problem.  It somewhat did.  Under the service manual it shows the oil inlet located on the intake manifold, not the carburetor.  I dont know if this is where it was previously located prior to 2004, or after but I doubt someone ever changed the manifold and modded the carb to take the inlet line.  I was wondering if anyone has a picture or can tell me the position that their oil inlet fitting is positioned so I can rule it out.  Thanks .

I,m not too good at all the drag&drop stuff, but I'll try to send the photo I have It shows the Oil line going into the INTAKE just above the reed cage. The line closer to the carb is the vacuum to the petcock. I just tried to copy /paste. Drag /drop. I don't get that stuff. Any way the Fact. set up is as stated. Even my Delorto set-up is the same. Is this a NEW scoot to you? I dont understand how it worked/ then NOT. Perhaps you got a stuck ring/ scored cyl. when the fitting came loose. I have both the zx/super fever manual, and the zx/ scout manual. They both show the oil line near the reed cage.

Funny, they show it hooked to the manifold in the manual!  On mine the fitting is in about the 10 -11 o'clock position, it goes right over the top of the vent line just to left of it.  I somewhat doubt that the position is causing your trouble though.  I would think it more to be a possible vacuum leak around the fitting.  You may need to put something like Loctite 648 press-fit retaining compound on the fitting to make sure it is sealed in and won't pop back out.  My camera is charging, I can get a pic later if you need.

Thanks Zombie, the ZX is not new to me, Ive had it for over 4 years with 8,000 miles on it.  I also have a People 50 and the oil line is on the intake.  I think they made the ZX with the oil line going to the manifold for a few years then switched it to the carburetor....or vise versa.

Yeah I should of have put some loctite or gasket sealer on the fitting when I put it back on.  Didnt think of that.  Thanks!

If you still have the flat spot I would check the cyl./pist.. The only carb mounted oil line I could find so far is the old school KEI-HIN used on early Honda 50's

AMAZING shaka, Who on earth would have that carb. That's a three point shot if I EVER saw one!
