I will keep you posted, but I think I may have found the problem.  I took off the seat for a look around and found the spark plug wire had loosened.  So I put it back and am now charging the battery (didn't want to try starting it after the beating it took yesterday after my multiple attempts to turn over the engine)  so I will put the battery back when charged and(fingers crossed) it will run.

No, I haven't.. I've never uncluttered the scoot before nd really am not in a good frame of mind to try it now.  Lucky I put the battery on the tender, it's been over 4 hours and its only on the blinking green light.  I really wiped it out yesterday

Great news, the scoot started right up.  It sounded a touch rough and am wondering if that was from all the times I was turning the throttle from my failed efforts to start it. Nit was too dark for me to ride but I let it run on the center stand for a couple of minutes, just enjoying the sound of it.  Thank you all for your help.  I am now going to make a little emergency kit for the scoot so I can get the seat off should something like this happen to me again while I'm on the road

Looked like it was the spark.

I carry about 10lbs worth of tools with me. Consider a USB port mod sometime in the future to charge a phone if needed.

Glad to hear a great outcome. Case solved.

Glad to hear it's fixed. I know when my scooter has acted up and I'm not able to ride, I get this sinking feeling in my stomach. No fun.

Sinking feeling is right, Wayne, especially when I realized I'd have to push my poor S8 home that day.  I just signed up with the AMA roadside protection-- I can't have that ever happen to me again.  How's your scoot doing?  Did you get your new carb?

What does that cost a year and will you share a website link for additional info?

It's americanmotorcyclist.com, and $49 per year, and is supposed to also take care of your car.  I spoke to a rep last night and they say they do it through some place called roadamerica, you call and they get someone out to you.  I didn't want to be calling tow car companies to find one that would handle my situation.  I got the recommendation from a guy in a local scooter club, the Hornets, and he said he had to use their services on one occasion.  For the price and that it is also good for my car, I thought it was worth it.
