2014 Kymco Super 8 50 2T Big Bore Kit | Help |
« on: April 08, 2015, 11:59:57 PM »
I'm a tight budget and don't have too much money and shouldn't be spending it on these mods but I am. I'm trying to buy a 70cc Big Bore Kit. What kind should I buy that will be for my Kymco.

Im new to all this but do a lot of searching. And what I understand is:

A BBK is not a good investment unless you match the BBK with a bigger quality carb, intake manifold, and exhaust pipe (possibly a chambered exhaust).

I read that you wont get much out of a cylinder with greater volume unless you can add and remove greater volumes of air and gas.

What have you done to your scooter so far?  BBK's are cool, but there is a lot you can do to make your scooter faster before you go to BBK IMO.

I would add a pipe if you haven't already, then rejet carb, then add a pod air filter and rejet carb again, and at some point you will probably want to tune your CVT.

The pipe, carb jets, CVT parts will cost some $'s but should be a lot less than BBK.  After you install BBK, you will probably be spending $'s on a pipe, carb jets, CVT parts anyway, plus more stuff you are maybe not aware of yet.  If you buy the right pipe, it will work with your BBK, plus the jets, and CVT parts may too.

I have Super 9 LC with OEM 49cc and it's screaming for me.  I have analyzed this over and over, and think it's more cost effective to get 150 or larger 4T scooter, when I want to go faster than maybe 50mph.  You can get more power with BBK, and have great fun doing it, but maybe not the best plan if on a tight budget, just my 2 cents.

By the way, I may do a BBK at some point, but who knows.  I learn something new about scooters often and change my mind about what best to do, but I am having great fun doing it.  Cheers
1st and 2nd usually have an unfair advantage.  3rd is usually the best, can learn the most from.  paraphrased from Don Quixote, over 400 years ago, still true today

All I have done to my Kymco is Put in light weight rollers and put in a derestricted boss.
Would this be a good big bore kit?http://www.scooterdynasty.com/cylinderkitnaraku70ccbigborefor50cc2-strokeackymcoscooters.aspx

I would like to think Super-8's are more deserving than to have cheap engine components.

The cheapest one will be the most expensive one. If you put crap engine metallurgy on a Super-8, you may regret it.

I wont recommend a cheap VIP type BBK. Look to spend about $175.00

I like to take my scooter for 50 mile back country trips and I wouldn't have confidence in the scooter with a cheap $50 BBK installed.

One of the reasons Im on this forum is because I didnt buy the cheapest scooter.

Here you go. This may work and you will have to confirm it with someone more experienced than I am with BBK's. I think Kimura had luck with this one and it seems to be working quite smooth on his bike.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Malossi-70cc-Cylinder-Kit-for-Kymco-People-50-Cobra-Super-8-2-Stroke-/161667850198?hash=item25a4279fd6

They used CNC machining for this BBK rather than digging a clay hole and pouring molten recycled
garbage metal into it.

Get this installed and the bike tuned properly like Kimura did, you have a great foundation to begin other performance mods to make use of this BBK.

My stock bore and stroke is 33 x 41.4 mm mm. The one you posted 47mm will it fit?

According to their app chart it should . Dont forget, you are replacing the piston and cylinder with bigger ones.

I suggest confirming with the seller.

47mm = 70cc it'll fit. Like I said before, if cheap is your prerogative keep it stock man.
