LED lights!
« on: April 15, 2015, 12:05:35 PM »
In an attempt to reduce the load on my battery and stator I have started putting led bulbs in.  I was skeptical at first,  but so far I'm impressed.  The taillight is much sharper and seems quicker to light up. The headlight I was afraid of the most.  But now with it installed it seems like it is great.  Looks nicer than the yellow color too.  I can't fully say that it's great until tonight when I take it out.  I have a feeling by the way it lights up my wall that it will be equal or better than stock.  Turn signals are next!

LED's are the way of the future!!!! They look better, last longer, can be much much brighter, and come on instantly instead of a "charge up" like bulbs. Never messed around with the LED headlights, let us know how it looks I would be interested to try it on my cafe bike.

This is the other.  The set was less than fifteen free shipping for two.  I'm looking at another style with more leds, even if this one is fine.  Once it gets dark enough I'll take picture of the brightness.
If interested I'll post up the item number and seller.  It's location is in WA,  bet.  It would get to you quick!

Well,  took it for a ride tonight.  I'm not sure if the brightness is good enough.  Hard to tell with how rainy it was,  every bit of light from other sources reflecting off the streets.  And most of the areas I rode in were fairly well lit or the stop lights drowned out any other light.  I just ordered on that has more leds on it,  and circular.  Like this.  Logically,  it should hit more of the reflective area with more light.

How was the aim on the headlight and did you notice any load change on your system

Thanks for the pictures! The ones you have are covered with LEDs. The one at Cycle Gear has but one relatively huge LED on one side. So how do ya get either hi-beam or low-beam? Got's a miniature cooling fan! We await your final test......

I had the aim originally set for the regular bulb,  which was okay.  I did some on the fly adjustments that did no good.  If it's not rainy tonight I may try to set it up better.  I think the bluish hue was throwing me off with the wet streets,  wet windscreen,  and wet face shield.
Honestly,  the load seemed to not change too much,  just no drop in brightness at idle.  But with the original bulb pulling 35w, this is possibly pulling half. Everything still gets hit by the signals.  I'm hoping the led signal bulbs that are on the way will relieve the issue with the intermittent dimming while the indicator is on.

My model only has one setting for the headlight.  On.  Ha ha.  I was confused about that when I got it,  since my cheap Chinese scoots have high and low settings.  This has no switch at all.  I've seen somewhere a way to wire it up,  but I'm okay with it as is.  I'm not sure on the bulb set up if it had that option.

Anyways,  the next bulb is on its way,  it doesn't even have to come from far,  so it should be in soon.

Correct.  On the left handle there is only the indicator switch.  Not even a dummy spot for the lights.
