Upholstery Shop Time!
« on: April 21, 2015, 06:18:13 PM »
Ok, i'm not sure how you guys have withstood that friggin' seat on the Like, but it is absolutely horrendous. I'm 6'1" and I always push my ass back towards the higher part then I feel like i'm riding on a little bike! I'm taking the seat to a local upholstery shop here in Austin to see if they can work some magic, i'd like to make it into something like this:

Has anyone pulled off the original cover, shaved some foam off with an electric knife and reattached the original cover with staples? Wonder if that would save me $200?

A few pix of different LIKE seat rebuilds.
I've written pages re. the seat rebuild, here, but will add these 2 thought: (1) with a properly re-padded seat the LIKE200i suspension seems to smooth out a 100%. I stopped looking to replace the rear shocks after doing the seat rebuild. I NEVER think about the seat any longer when riding my LIKE200i. (2) to make certain you can experience #1 - do NOT quit on the padding until you no longer feel the ridge when sitting any place on the seat! This is too much work to have that ridge come back to haunt your rides - so test ride - and test ride again - before restretching a new covering on the seat.
