2012 downtown 200i
« on: April 22, 2015, 02:18:00 PM »
Is this the same scoot as the 300 but with a different motor? Problem is it's a long ways away from me and I'm not able to test it out. It has a seat that you only have 1 position to sit at because of a very high ridge separating it from the pass seat. I'm 6ft 220 and am concerned with me be scrunched up close to the handle bars. Any input from folks who know about this issue is needed.

2012 Downtown gti200?

ARE you sure? I thought the downtown and GTI were 2 different models. Anyway I have a 2012 GTI300. I believe it is the same size as a GTI200 would be. I'm 5' 10" and about 225. Size works good for me, but that 2" might make a difference. I would really suggest that you try it before you buy it.

downtown or the gti 300 you will most likely have to re build the seat for long term riding pleasure, my downtown I added 4 inches of rebond foam , carved a seat into it and Im good for all day, seems we are the same size  6 ft. and 220 lbs.

2k for a new old stock 5.1k list scoot, I pulled the trigger. If it doesn't fit I'll flip it for some cash. If it works I'll sell the movie 150.
Good for you!
My kind of adventure!
Pictures please.....and for 2G's you can swap out any questionable nos sitting too long parts for $200/300 and have a new scoot. Even have the seat worked if need be.
Is it 200cc EFI, or carbed?
This is interesting...please keep us updated!

It is my understanding that ALL the DTs are EFI.

The GTI and the DT both were offered as a 200. Price point was far to close to the 300 so they sat and sat and sat.

Local just brought a few of the 200 GTIs in . Again there's room in theses prices.

Deal didn't work out at all. Scooter was badged as a DT 300 but was a DT 200, dealer never mentioned that over the phone. They said the plastics were changed because 1 customer didn't like the orange and wanted the white plastics off of the 200 so they switched them to make a sale. I find that explanation dubious at best. Another issue was parts missing, end cap on the muffler and the muffler heat shield. No reason given for that issue. The scoot was presented as a NEW 12 DT200 scoot in the ad and that's what I expected. To say the least I was dissatisfied. The scoot had a couple of scratches I could live with and said so. To me a couple means 2 or 3 at most, after all it is a 12 sitting on the show room for for 3 years. This scoot had been dropped on both sides and the under carriage was severely scratched too, unacceptable. In the end they agreed to refund my money in full and take the scoot back. They stood up and were professional about the whole deal. I give them kudos for that. Chalk this up as a learning lesson, online pics don't give you the whole picture. Got my eye on an 08 sym hd200 now. If the price is right, we'll see. I'll never  buy another sight unseen...............on another note. The DT200 is a beautiful scoot but here's my take. It is a very heavy scoot, especially in low speed handling it handles like a beast. Also the riding position for someone 5'11" is unacceptable, totally uncomfortable. If this would have worked out I would have flipped it. Dang shame I had my hopes way up on keeping it.

2Wheel: Sorry about your deal going south. You're correct....Lesson learned. I own the SYM HD200 (see signature) that I keep @ my parents home in Florida when I visit. I sold my Super 8 1500cc for a replacement. I have nothing but great things to say about the HD200. Nimble, fast (15.8HP), water cooled & dual disc brakes. Tons of color options as well. I never have had a problem with the carb either if you use additives. My last trip down to Florida it sat for over 6 months & started right up on the 2nd try. Plus I think it's a sexy scoot as well.

For $3500.00 it's worth every penny. Plus...SYM hasn't raised they MSRP in over 3 years. I paid $3100.00 for mine as it was on the showroom floor for over 6+ months. Great scooter!

Always wanted a SYM - but our SYM dealer went uder - but his HVAC business is hanging on - barely.
Not impressive when I went to see his 'shop' - he had one of every dad gum SYM model !!....in a garden shed.
If I was a wealthy fellow I'd a bought them all ! They are great looking scoots and a nice vintage looking bike as well.
