These springs are baffling. Now the blues are stiffer than the reds.

I think I need something weaker than the greens though as Im in a lot of stop and go traffic. Maybe I should keep the stock spring on for now. Someone in another forum is saying even the green ones make him rev too much and is having issues in slower traffic.

I dont think they have whites for stock clutch.

Really eager to see how all works out for you.

Something else to consider

http://www.highgaintuning.com/Torsion_Control_MALOSSI_Piaggio_50cc_p/m2512828.htm

I am waiting delivery on this. Its supposed to increase life of the contra spring and add some smoothness.

Update: So I put the blue Malosi (sport, not the red ones) clutch springs this week while utilizing the stock contra spring.  The acceleration is still sluggish up to 15mph then oens up. So I took everything apart and installed the purple Malosi contra spring.  I am still having the same issue with acceleration.  Is it the rollers being 8.5 gram?  Do I need to go down a gram or two?

Holy cow yeS!!! If I would have seen before you have 8.5g then yes thats the issue man!!! With a tuned pipe you might be as low as 4g rollers to hit the RPM range of that pipe!!!!!!!!!!

Just an idea.

If your variator works well with sliders :

Get a pack of 5g and 6gm dr pulley sliders.

Try 5gm
Try 6gm
Try mixture of 5gm and 6gm for 5.5gm effect.

Good chance you hit a sweet spot if 4gm rollers are good.

Hey guys - I installed 6.5 gram rollers (all I had at this time) and what a difference!  I will be ordering lighter weights since I think it could run even better.  Thanks again for the help/suggestions!

Yeah buddy!!!! Once you get what works best, get Dr. Pulley sliders in there.

Funny you mentioned the Dr. Pulley sliders!

I actually just purchased the Dr. Pulley sliders off Amazon for $20.  5gram.  I figured those would work great, but maybe I should have tried to experiment with cheap 4 gram rollers.  It seems to run pretty well with 6.5 gram, but I can tell there is still a slight bit of lag.  Figured 5g would work well.

on another note, I appreciate your help on this forum Bettinandlosing and from Chris.  You both have been most helpful in helping me get my scooter the way I want it.  It's such a different ride.  Time, research, and a little patience is everything when modding these scooters.

Nice.  I'm in MN and the weather has been beautiful lately.  70s/80s.  I'm looking forward to a summer full of riding.

I installed the 5gram Dr. Pulley sliders last weekend.  Acceleration is good and top end is about 42ish.  I'm going to try 5.5 or 6 gram sliders.  While I feel the acceleration is better, I think I might be a tad too light.
