I got an 05 super 9 with a cdi that I'm quite sure is stock, however with all my mods I get to around 65 or more on the flats,and peg the tach as well, I'm wondering if there is still a restriction with the cdi that's limiting the rpms n btw the green plug is unplugged.

Oh btw is there anyone else that still builds these things up any more? I had quite a time finding all the parts for this beast and it rules the road, embarrassing all those taotaos;)

I have the same box.  I've put my tach past ten quite often.  I've heard people say to stick with that one, which is what I've done.

Ha mine usually is past -10. I was just wondering if there was some sort of governer other than the green wire

I don't believe so.  Might research at scooterinvasion forums.  There's a lot of work done by Josh on a s9 there.

No RPM restriction if the green wire is unplugged. However, the stock cdi timing is not designed for much higher than about 8000, if you want to get more power past 10k the programmable CDI setups will allow you to properly time the ignition at high revs.

Well I'm usually cruising at about 9500 rpms. Unfortunately there is no up gear set any more but I have to figure out what to do about the cvt as well never done cvt tuning before. But, i never really noticed an issue with the cvt. should I replace it? I heard mixed reviews about the gy6

If you're looking to change out the variator,  don't go cheap.  I did,  worked great at first but the high rpms destroyed it quickly.  I've went back to the stock one. 
They sell am overrange kit that should fit with little modifying,  I believe.  I'm looking into an overrange variator myself, might be useful with a slightly longer belt.  It should fit by only removing the starter gear.  The rear pulley might involve more. 
Have you not done the torque or clutch springs yet?

Well I run 93 and never have had overheating issues and have kept good compression for over a year. I haven't done clutch springs or nothin yet, pretty new to the cvts all it's got Is the machined boss drive. What weight clutch spring would u recommend?

I u kno what I want. Best acceleration without sacrificing top end. It can go 50 up a steep hill but i would prefer some better accel and if possible also an increase in top speed which i guess would be possible if I could find a bigger pulley that would fit in the case and a heavier clutch spring

I am just new to tuning cvts I still got a stock belt at 6000 km and I'm sure I probably need to get a new one. I have heard of performance variators meant for the torquey 70cc kit but some don't fit in the cover. Any idea which work? I also am probably going to want a spring only slightly heavier than stock. Not big on sliders or rollers either. Maybe I'll buy some assorted malossi ones but any idea of a range? Maybe I should start a thread not labeled cdi...

I'll find out soon enough,  lol.  I run over that daily,  sometimes for periods of over  a mile before catching traffic.

I bought mine used with some aftermarket springs in it.  The clutch springs allow my take off to start at about 4500-5000rpms. I upgraded the torque spring to a stiffer one.  Better for the mountain area here.  I think it's a 1500, I can't recall it's been so long.
Like previously said,  it's about personal preference and rider's weight.  mine is still off a little,  it hangs at about 25mph then takes off.
