Squeaking from front of scooter
« on: May 16, 2015, 08:13:20 PM »
By way of background, I dumped my S8 the other day.  It has been running, don't notice any difference with the steering or brakes, and I thought the damage was all cosmetic.  However, today when I took it for a short ride, I can hear a small squeak that sounds like it's coming from the front, and it only happens when I go over bumps.  When I got back to the garage, engaged the front brake and pushed down on the handlebars, it was squeaking then too.  I looked the front wheel over but the only thing I saw that looked amiss was the end of the cable going into the right side(when astride the bike) of the fork was loose and rather greasy.   I tightened it back up again (I'm assuming that's the speedo cable).  Any thoughts on what the squeaking could be?

How do I do that?  I did look over both sides of the front fork, but it was clean with no oil or grease on it. No even took a paper towel and wiped off the bottom of each tube and there was nothing, and there is no oil on the pavement under the scoot

How do I do that?  I did sit astride my scoot, engaged the front brake and push the handlebars.  Should I be standing and looking over the front of the scoot to see if it is going up and down in a straight line?

First you need to put your ear to hear exactly where the sound is coming from and also have someone push on the frontend as you look at the action of your fork
