New tire(s)
« on: May 19, 2015, 11:10:53 AM »
From all the riding I do my rear tire is down to nothing. I was thinking about gettin the biggest and fattest tire I can for the stock rim, not only to get the rpms lower but it would look like a street bike from the back 8). Any recommendations? Could I just take the tire size and use anything that complies? What are other people running?

I replaced mine with Avon Viper Stykes, same size on OEM.  I bought them because they were recommended by several posters on this site.    I replaced my 10 plus year old OEM tires, side walls were cracked and pretty hard.  So far, like the Avon's OK, but not crazy about them.

I've recently put on kenda tires.  Not expensive and grip great.  I'll put better ones on next.

Ya I'm thinkin about a fat street bike tire good for gettin the bike sideways. The stock tires pretty big but I'd like one a little bigger... Or a lot. It's been plugged already and the plug has been ground flush to the tire from riding :P not much life left to the tire either

Check out Heidenau K58 or K61.  I got some Heidenau for my People 50 2T and really like them.  Haven't ridden on them yet, but look/ feel great.  Cheers

The stock tires seemed to have very poor traction,  in my opinion,  compared to the ones I've put on.  It was a huge step up for me.
I guess if you remove the fender guard thing from the back you should be able to go a little bigger.  I'll ask my local shop a few questions.  That could potentially look awesome

Did the rear fender delete many moons ago. I have like a whole nother 2 inches till the case and that's my restriction but that would leave me a more than fat enough tire, especially because that's about an extra 3" in dia.

I recently had to replace a destroyed Dunlop Scoot Smart tire with a one size larger Bridgestone Hoop......but was cautioned by an older, veteran, parts manager...that going to a slightly wider tire on a stock rim has actually Reduced my tire/road contact patch. Wider tires only increase road contact if placed on wider rim!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Ya true, but my bigger concern is a larger diameter, that would be great. However, if there is a wider rim thT is compatible, let me know
