Yup it does the same thing to me. If anyone could help out with this I would really appreciate it.

If  you're using windows and happen to have office you can resize then select compress.  If you don't have office then you can get Gimp v2.x (it's opensource software) it has a lot off cool features and can reduce the size as well.
