Top speed decreased after oil and airfilter change
« on: July 21, 2015, 03:54:16 PM »
Hello guys, my stepdad recently replaced my kymco agility rs 4t airfilter, and changed its oil, and now my top speed decreased from 48km/h to 38km/h. Allso the speedometer still displays the top speed at 45km/h, but gps shows top speed to be 38km/h ( the same gps showed the top speed to be 48km/h before the oil and airfilter  change ). I have no clue whats going on, cuz we changed the airfilter to the same one it had it before, exept that this one is clean, used same oil an nothing else was touched.  What would cause this kind of effects normally ( i could check those). My agility is in original shape (no tuning yet). Please help if u have any idea what might have caused this

Too much oil? Check the oil on the center stand after the bike is warm, and make sure you wait a minute or two then check. Too high oil level will kill power, and actually damage the engine. Tire pressure up to spec? How many hamburgers did you have before the tune up? LOL it's a 50cc you gotta think of everything.

Lol i was and am on a diet so my weight has nothing to do with it LOL. But about the oil, how big is the kymco agility rs 4t oil container, and how much should i add oil in there? I really think too much oil might be it

IDK beacuse we don't have that exact bike here in USA, but it should be based on the QMB qy6 so about .7l of oil. Check with the dipstick

Tire pressure up to spec? That's for sure. I noticed that a few times. Add a few lb. extra, Also check all your air lines. And both hoses going to and from the carb.check and see if the 2 bolts just befor the carb is tight. When was the last time you checked the rollers.

Is the oil level supposed to be only at the little hashtags? Cuz mine goes over that, it has too much oil then?

Yes sir. It should actually be slightly below the upper lever on the hash marks.

So tell me as a professional, can i get a bit of the oil out? i dont want to waste the allmost fresh oil, so could i just take a bit of the oil out? and the oil valve is beneath the oil refill hole itself right?

Yes you can, just put the drain pan below the dipstick and tip the bike that direction and it will spill out, it's messy. I use a syringe and suck excess oil out if I over fill by mistake. The drain bolt is regular threads, lefty loosie righty tighty.

Well that worked! :) Tipping the bike slightly drained some of the oil (it was messy like u said) BUT now there is a good ammount of oil in the oil tank. I took it for a test drive immediately, there was not too much diffrence (i managed to get up to 42km/h) which is slightly better. I think it takes some time and driving for it to fully recover, if not, I will report back here

I thank u for your advice guys ! ^^

I have driven about 70km now but there is still lack of power and top speed. Any other suggestions what it might be?
