Temp stays at cold position for very long time.
« on: August 04, 2015, 12:05:15 PM »
I have noticed recently that the temp gauge stays at the cold start position for a very long time before it moves up to just above middle of the Guage.

I opened the radiator cap, and topped up with distilled water, but not much was required.
The overflow bottle has had the level dropped  to mid way twice since I got it back from the shop (crank replaced).

The dropping level in the overflow has never happened before. I have had this scoot for over two years.

I do live close to the highway and drive at 120km continously for long distances shortly after starting the scoot.

It is also colder at the moment (winter),
so I might be overly concerned for no reason.

Does your xc500 also not warm up quickly..?

If its winter where you live, then it will take a little longer for the light to go out. If it continues into the warm months, then you may have a thermostat that is going bad. Very easy to replace. :-* P.S. Keep an eye on the over flow tank. If it needs topping off often, then you are losing water while riding. Look around bike after ride and see if u can see any green/yellow/orange drops leaking down to the ground when on center stand.  :-*
