drive probs
« on: April 06, 2008, 03:40:59 PM »
hi all,ive just bought my first quad so if the answer is simple dont take the p##s too much ! bought a mxu 300 4 days ago, seemed fine, now it drives fine in low,& reverse but in high it feels like it tries to move up a gear ( as such) but surges, its like a clutch slip without rising revs.phoned the seller who doesnt know what it is,can anyone on here shed some light on it for me please/

Kinda hard to diagnose these over the internet, but we can try.

So this unit was purchased used and has some drive slippage in High Range.

What year? Does it still have warranty? They are warrantied 1 yr from purchase. Transferable.

If out of warranty, I would pop the clutch cover off and check the belt.
Do you know if the previous owner changed the secondary spring? If he does not know then he probably did not:)

Thanks!
Tony

changed belt/rollers as both showed wear signs,no difference still surging feeling (like clutch slip) but jerky is best way to describe it + the gearbox occasionally grates when setting off,any advice would be much appreciated as im getting mucho frustrated :'(

The transmission is coming out of it.  Nothing to do but get a new one.
