looks like they want you to pay for a diagnoses tool, that they don't have, with lessons on how to use it,

So I called the dealer they told me if I want my bike it will be $6700. They talk to chip twice this week and kymco wants pictures of the bike,  Chip must be code for held bike hostage. For that amount I can buy new bike and have money left over.i called 800 number no reply.  Don't know if kymco doesn't want to stand behind its products and take care of the consumer.

This is absolutely NUTS! Kymso US has answered the phone when I have called them. You may have a time zone difference that you may have forgotten. Kymco WILL resolve this I am sure. A customer cannot be held hostage on a warranty problem. What they seem to be trying is criminal.

I think this is a BS post from the beginning. Too many things don't add up. The amount quoted for the repair and the fact that he says Kymco does not call back. I call BS.

Think I agree.
"Over 75 hrs labor" spent on his scooter?
Sounds ......not right.
A Mercedes maybe, but on a Kymco?
Can't see it.

This post is real.  I know the fellow, and I know the scooter.  In fact, I helped him find a Sym HD200 to buy and ride while his Kymco is in the shop.   I'm a firm believer in not sweating the small stuff in life, but this seems a bit absurd.  I would have been camped out with sandwiches and a sleeping bag at the dealer after the second week.   They would have been so sick of seeing my face in there, they would have fixed it just to get rid of me.   Next time you think buying a new scooter is the safer, less troublesome way to go, think again.  Especially if it is a KYMCO.

Well, I stand corrected.
This is just so unbelievably wrong.
I doubt the owner did anything wrong....but seems like every other participant has screwed up their portion of the situation.
We all wish him good luck with this.
Apologies offered....

Great to hear, carmen! Did you have to pay them anything? Did you connect with Kymco? What was really wrong with the bike?

Thank you CROSSBOLT.  You really delivered on this.  Once you got involved, KYMCO corporate reached out to carmen007, and the shop that had his bike was singing a whole different story.   He had it back by yesterday afternoon.    I believe he said ECU, MAP and TPI replaced,  not certain on this though.

Thanks, Wally! However, it was the Kymco people that fixed this. The dealer replaced all the things involved in TPS initialization. I wonder if the dealer tech was savvy enough to do this procedure after throwing parts at the problem. You and carmen007 can do this procedure in the driveway with no special tools. When? Any time it won't idle right, surges either at idle or at very low throttle settings. The procedure is on this forum in a bunch of places both on GTi300 and DT300i machines.

I saw carmen007 yesterday at a group ride.  He was back on his KYMCO.  I visited with him a while, and here is what I learned about the dealer he took his bike to for warranty work:
1)  He asked them if his factory warranty is extended for the 6 months they had his bike,  he was told NO, warranty clock kept ticking.
2)  He asked if the work they just performed over the last 6 months came with any type of warranty.  They would not give him an answer.
3)  They strongly asked him to edit his earlier post on this forum, changing the dollar amount asked for to $500 down from the $6,700 they had told him.  They said it made them "look bad".

Don't know about you, but this place gets my vote for Number 1 in customer service.

In my opinion the shop should be named and the post absolutely not changed as far as the price they wanted. As consumers it is our responsibility to hold companies like this accountable and make their poor service very public. How they can justify wanting more for repairs than the bike is worth and not having it covered by warranty is beyond me. They made themselves look bad not the customer.
