Changing Oil and Oil filter
« on: August 29, 2015, 03:58:51 PM »
Doing my first oil change on my DT (though I did many on my old Yager). According to the maintenance schedule I should change my oil filter as well. Looking through the manual I can't seem to find what type or brand of oil filter I should get. I'd rather get the part instead of taking it out first and try and figure out what it is.

Mechanics isn't my thing. Any help or tips would be appreciated. To remove the oil filter bolt I need a 24 mm wrench. What size do I need for the oil plug/screen bolts?

I get mine through Amazon.  It is the HiFlow HF566 filter.  One of the sellers on Amazon sells them for about $5.00 with free shipping.  I think the drain bolt is a 17 MM.  I know I had to get a 24 MM for the oil filter as I didn't have one big enough.  Is very easy to do!

Thanks Jim,

I'll check our local Walmart to see if they may have anything close to it. If not I'll order it from Amazon. I have a 17mm, but looks like I need to get the 24mm as well.

Wolf, unfortunately Walmart doesn't sell the HF566.

when you change the oil in the gears cut a gal. jug in half and leave a flap on one side to lay over the tire so you dont get oil on the tire, and change the oil HOT!!!

Thanks De Dee. Great Advice. I have an oil pan, but I didn't think of the tiress getting splashed on.
