Future People GT300i owner?

I was a bicyclist for 50 years but my bicycling days are over.  As a substitute for feeling the wind in my face, I decided to get a scooter which I retire at age 65.  Motorcycles are out since I don't want to shift gears.  I like to drive performance luxury cars so I prefer a comfortable scooter with an automatic (luxury) with performance...so a People GT300i will likely be my first scooter.  As a bicyclist, I really hated cars who tailgated me so I needed something powerful enough for me to pull away.

My issue:  I can't seem to find very many reviews by People GT300i owners on the internet when I yahoo the words "Kymco People GT300i reviews".  Are there any good links?  Thanks

First, I am 65 years old and retired. I have owned different kinds of motorcycles over the years. I tended to gravitate to the high powered standards like the Yamaha V Max. I have owned most brands except Kawasaki. I have ridden all my adult life and simply love riding. Does not matter what I ride, as long as i`m riding something.
In 2005 I had three heart attacks and was dry dock for awhile. When I started riding again I decided that with health problems plus arthritis I did not want to handle 500-800 pound bikes anymore.
About four years ago my wife decided she wanted a motor scooter. I bought her a new Aprilia Scarabeo 200. It is a good machine. I started riding her scoot and liked it so much, I went out a bought the first GT in my area.
I purchased the GT about 2 1/2 - 3 years ago.
At the time I had a Yamaha FZ6. Four hundred sixty pounds @ 98 hp. It was a very good machine. Sold the FZ after buying the GT.
At the time I was a bit concerned about the transition from motor cycles to a motor scooter.
It did not take long for the GT to set my mind at ease. The darn thing runs and handles like a motor cycle, except for being much lighter and not having to change gears.
I wish the GT s seat had a little more padding and some rear tilt.
Other than that little nit pic, It is a dream machine.
I still cannot get over how a 300cc fi machine can run that well.
When I went to try it out, I purposely took my wife with me to see how well it would pull the both of us. To my surprise, we went up steep hills with no problem. At that time I weighed about 190 and my wife weighed about 150.
When I had about 2000 miles on it, I took it to a nice flat four lane highway a let it go.
It took awhile but I finally got it to 95 on the speedo. In reality it was probably doing a little over 90. I don`t normally ride that fast. I was just curious as to what top end was.
Ninty nine % of the time I ride 65 and under. The GT will do that with ease.
I have tested it going up 40 degree hills. The darn thing keeps gaining speed and I have to let off before topping the hill.
To tell you how much I like my GT, when it wears out, i`m going back for another GT.
Unless something better comes along.
Did I mention I love my GT?.

  I agree 100% with Boo. When I was 66, I sold my Harley-Davidson. That 648lbs was just getting to be too much for me. I purchased a People 150 in 2010. Absolutely loved it except for limited top end (56-58mph). Sold it in 2012 and bought a GTI300. I absolutely love it. No clutch, top end 85MPH +, light weight (350lb), and 68mpg. What's not to like. I weigh about 215 and this scoot hauls me around with no problem. It handles like a dream, and is great on fuel. I agree the seat could be more comfortable, but I can live with it. My scoot is about 4 years old now and only has about 3900 miles on it. (6 months of winter). I'm 71 years old, and probably won't be buying another scooter, but if I was, I'd buy another GTI300 in a heartbeat.

OP I'm not sure where you live but right now Heinen's Motorsports in Minnesota is selling a brand new 2013 model of the 2013 PEOPLE GT 300i for ONLY $2899!!  They also ship Kymco scooters across the country for people.  Even with the shipping cost included that price will probably beat anything else out there.

I just bought a People 300 after owning 40 motorcycles. I'm 66 and live in a small city so scooters are ideal. The lower weight is ideal as I have leg issues due to lumbar stenosis. If shifting gears is the issue, why not look at a Honda ctx700 with DCT transmission. It has huge torque and handles well. I think they get 68 mpg and hold 4 gallons of gas. I  just got back into scooters, a 50, 150, and now a 300. All 2 wheel vehicles rock. But scooters are better for in town.
