Spark went out
« on: October 21, 2015, 04:48:46 AM »
I've been intermittently having issues with my spark,  randomly the tachometer quits or the blinker makes it act odd. After a few long,  high speed rides,  I parked it.  I had turned it off and on several times before I parked it for the night.  Went out to run to the store real quick,  it started,  but then stopped abruptly.  Took the seat off,  the plug wire was barely on the plug.  After pushing it back on it still wouldn't start.
No spark from the cap.
I've traced back to the coil,  swapped coils,  then tested the wires to the coil.  No spark.  Checked the stator.  Two of the three wires are giving voltage.  Cdi gets a constant power when switched,  but I can't seem to find any power coming out.
Any ideas?

I just read about an Eton beamer,  they have the same cdi,  and it seems to look like I need spark from that last stator wire from the cdi,  the pickup.  I assume I would detect that when turning it over...

Well,  the pickup wire is actually getting power,  .35. All the way to the cdi.  Now,  why don't I get any power to my coil?

Actually he's been off facebook and messenger for about 4 months now also and I'm not sure if he even gets on 49ccscoot.com which is the active forum I'm mostly on other than facebook. But we talk now and then on the phone and text  alot especially since I got a LC 2005 S9 now.

So pace, how you like your S9 LC?, hope it's running well for you, I have 2 now, one almost completely OEM, very low miles, the other approx 6000 miles runs fast, I love it.  Cheers

it's ok it will never be as fast as the Like with the Stage 6 gears but it's quicker. I've put my Multivar and stage 6 clutch and exhaust on not much of a difference but a better higher powerband. Will put BBK on soon and take it to TN for the SMoky Mountain Crawl in June Tries should be there also he needs to fix his water pump on his S9 and he's trying to get the TGB with the 110 Rattler engine good by then.
