Downtown priced right?!?
« on: November 18, 2015, 05:00:36 PM »
I recently found a 2012 Downtown with 3K miles for sale by owner and it looks in excellent condition.  Problem...the owner wants $3,700 which seems way too high given KBB and Nada guides. Does this price seem appropriate for the (Southwest) market?

Yes, if you are talking about Phoenix or San Diego vicinity, in my opinion.

Sellers always ask more than what they'll take. Check out the bike in person and offer $3100. All he can say is no. If it's perfect I would go $3300. Negotiating in person makes the seller know you are a real buyer and not a looker.

First, let me say, it's a great scooter! I just purchased a 2012 Downtown 300i on October 19th. As with the one your looking at, it had 1 owner and it was in excellent condition. Only 657 miles. I paid $3999. I live 10 miles west of New York City and everything around here is over priced. So $3700 might be a little high. But you won't be disappointed with the ride. Hope this helps

Mikestib1 and Pipster326, thanks for the input.

Pipster326, I've heard this is an awesome scooter except that it tends to fit smaller framed individuals.  I'm 5'8", 150 lbs, 32" inseam.  What are your dimensions?

I am about the same as you. I do NOT flat-foot ride my scooters ( any more than I would in an equine saddle) . I point my toes slightly outward ( I feel I have MUCH better control in leans and handling this way ) and have NO trouble with my Downtown .I can flick that bike anywhere I want.

I'm  on the shorter side 5' 6""  160lbs . It feel very comfortable on it . Everyone's different, try sitting on it, even if you don't buy it, but I think it should be quite comfortable for you. Let me know how you make out

As Jerry Garcia/Bob Weir used to say-  " At Least I'm Enjoyin' The Ride  " .

Now, you do the same !  8)

Me, too, what they said! Especially after Maxxis tires replaced by Metzelers.
