love the scoot - hate the seat
« on: November 20, 2015, 10:25:36 PM »
I'm a proud new owner of a People 300.  I think the scoot is great. Engine very good for it's size, larger wheels, loud horn, great lights, sooo much fun. The bad, for me, awful seat.  Hard and feels like it pushes me forward.  I've got to think some of you have had the same problem.  How did you resolve it?  I owned an Xciting 500 several years ago and did not have the same problem.
Thank you all, greatly appreciate your suggestions.

yeah- I dont know what it is about kymco but they get the seats a little off-I did a test demo of the i700 a the AIMexpo in Orlando-and I was VERY disappointed with the seat-it was like angled so that I was getting a wedgie-really not comfortable. Since I've been sort of noticing a similar slant in the gti300--but not as bad.

Most scooter seats suck. Just consider cost of a new seat part of the total cost of initial buy. What size are you and how do your legs fit in relation to the steering housing? You just might have the best scoot for the money out there. 300cc's is the perfect size and being a true step through.

I myself don't like the seat for the scoot also.

If you feel like modifying the seat by getting it 're-upholstered, you can do that. Raise the front of the seat so that it sits almost level with the back part of the seat.

Take the seat off and take it to car upholstery shop. They can remove the cover and modify the seat foam.

I have been riding my new GT a bit more lately and for some reason the seat is not that bad now. It has about 950 miles on it. The one on my gold GT was pretty painful. I could go maybe 40 minutes and that was it. My butt couldn't take anymore. I can go longer on my new GT and my butt isn't to bad. Not sure why but it is more comfortable. I was planning on having the seat done on my new bike but I think I'm going to wait a while now.

Hope you enjoy your GT, mscmkr

Most Kymco seats suck for comfort. I own a 2012 GT300i & had to have it modified with memory/gel combination using the original skin. Night/Day difference. I dealt with it for a year & had enough. for $150.00 it's so worth the price. You can also consider a Airhawk seat cushion.
