Felling sad...
« on: December 11, 2015, 12:47:09 AM »
Tday after 11 months of ownership i had my first accident. A taxi changed lanes and didnt see me coming. Im ok.. badlly scratched my knee and my elbow had the worst part of the hit. I was wearing gloves full face helmet and a jacket. Without the jacket i might be in trouble now.
The taxi did a classic hit & run and found in the asphalt alone. Many ppl in the street helped me to get on my feet and was 3 blocks away from a hospital. Did some xrays, saw a physician and went home to rest my head.
Scoot is done.. dont think its repairable. Im mad for the cab. Sad that i fell. Worried that my scoot is worth pennies but happy that im healthy and alive.

Couldnt even take pics of the bike...

Had to write.. many feelings going on

Hope no one has to deal with this ever.

I'm very sorry to hear about your accident, and also very glad that you are in good shape. I can completely relate to your circumstance - I was hit by a drunk driver who totaled my scooter as well, then took off. Luckily, someone followed him and the police caught up to him. Fortunately, I only had a few scrapes and bruises, but had the same bunch of mixed emotions: anger that the idiot was driving completely sloshed, sad about the bike, and very grateful I didn't have any worse injuries. Hopefully, the insurance company will work with you and it won't be a big hassle for you. Please keep us updated as things progress.

(By the way, you made it longer than I did - my accident happened after only 4 months after getting my first scooter.)

Hello Beermak,
Dear LIKE125 rider - this is sad news for all of us - and especially for your fellow LIKE riders!
I have always enjoyed your scooter thoughts & reports from Argentina!
Well, thank God you are not too badly injured. Scooters are metal and plastic & rubber - but you are flesh and blood and not so easily replaced, yes?

We think how sad indeed you must be at the shock of this accident, and from the loss of your beloved Kymco scooter. Our thoughts and prayers go to you at this time of your loss and your pain.

You had a handsome smoke gray colored scooter that is not available here in the States - I really enjoyed your pictures of your pretty scooter in this rare color.

Ah, but you are good for wearing some proper scooter gear - and we are thankful for that as well. It could have ended so much worse, yes?

Well, my friend - we hope you heal well and as quickly as possible!
Try not to be too sad for your pretty scooter....
It was a nice scooter was it not? Kymco made a nice LIKE for all of us!
With luck, maybe you will have another in your future?

Take care of yourself - and please do let us know how you are doing, OK?
Best regards, Stig (Tom, in Ohio)

Glad to hear you’re alive and well! Sorry for the loss of your scooter. Any chance there were any witnesses who saw the company name of the taxi? If it hit you maybe there’s damage. Any chance the police can check the local taxi companies to see if an cars had recent damage?

As bad as a crash is, surviving one is way, way better. Pain is temporary and glory is forever. You have some great battle scooter stories to tell noe.

Rest up, and heal well,

- Wolf

Hi glv55 and stig..

Insurance aint gonna help. The cabs insurance should but.. he decided to take off.

Im in bed and tomorrow it will be another day. Sun will shine. Will go to work (on the car) and on sat will start an old scoot a friend aint been using and never bothered to sell. So its going to be a loaner. For the record he got a white like and loved it since.

I called my kymco dealer and didnt had any grey in stock. Id probablly stop by and talk to them.. im probably getting same scoot color and dealer. Its a matter of doing it before or after my new years eve vacation.

Hope to show the new set of wheels soon!

In the end.. on monday ill be riding again!!

So sorry for the loss of your scooter but so very glad to hear you were able to walk away from the accident. Hopefully you will be able to get some compensation for your loss and maybe scoot again. Thankful that you are ok.

You are OK, you are getting back on 'the horse' to ride again, you are talking of the trauma ( thus, healing emotionally as well as physically) .
Good for you !! The cab driver will get his own Karma, in the long run. Kudos to you. Healing thoughts sent your way. Gotta give credit to we Kymco riders.... we're tough !

Back on the horse! Hooray! Hate to hear about this or any other crash. Hit and run really sucks! To bad we can't do a McGee and hack the stoplight cameras and nail that cabbie.

Well aint that easy... i spoke to a very close friend who is my lawyer also. We went through this and theres nothing very prominent to do. I should make a police report. Visit a judge. Get him ask for the footage of the intersection that time and day. Get the license plate . Request on the dmv info. Track owner. Find his insurance. And start a claim.
Just to get a claim will demand 30 days beeing lucky... and might see some $ in 2 yrs. Ill have to invest arround 8000 ar$ and a lot of time and effort qnd still need to by a bike on my own. Scoot brand new its 45000 ar$ something like 4000 usd ...

I decided just to forget this and get a new bike.

Scooting its just such happiness im not planning to give it away.

Glad you made it through the accident relatively unscathed. I can only imagine the range of emotions. It sounds like you have a great attitude even though you got the short end of the stick. Must post pics of the new scoot when it happens. Everyone loves a good pic of a new scoot.

I am glad you are okay. We have way too many of those hit and run issues here in Vegas.

How right you are on that one Dave.
Our only hope is that the new law charging Hit And Run the same penalties as a DUI, lowers the rate of Hit and Run here in the valley.
