Looking at a used People 150
« on: December 13, 2015, 01:30:24 AM »
I was looking at an old People 150 for sale, and I really like it.
Only issue is the mileage. The odometer has 16,000 miles on it!!  :o
That kinda scares me away from it. I was wondering what kind of mileage most people have gotten out of theirs??
I have a 2012 Super8 150, which I love, and I know Kymcos can go a long time with proper maintenance.
The People 150 I looked at looks spotless and runs great, and I haven't seen another one for sale in my area anywhere. But, I don't know that I would want to take a chance on one with 16,000 miles on it already.
How long do these usually last, and what would the most likely issues be at that mileage?

Hey Duke. I am kind of new to the scooter thing but I never let that stop me. I have been working my own cars, lawn mowers, weed eaters, etc. so I do have a pretty good grasp of things mechanical. First off, the odometer on the 150s are in kilometers and not miles. That means that if the scooter has 16000 on the odometer, it only has 9,942 actual MILES on it. I know it is confusing. The speed is in MPH and the odometer is is Kilometers.  Go figure. I have had a 150 for a few months and have put around 3000 miles on it so far. It is a quality machine in every way. The engine is a simple and tried and true design. If the scooter was well maintained, my opinion is that it should still have a lot of life left in it. Hope this helps.

Agree with everything Mr. Paul said.  I owned a 2005 People 150 which I sold a few months ago to get a bigger scooter.  It had about 25,000 km on it, and it ran as well as the day I bought it! ;)

Same here. Had a 2007 People 150, and it was a great scoot! Beautiful smooth ride with those 16" wheels!

Thanks for the input everyone.
Makes me feel a little better about it. I'll probably keep looking around though, because it's at my local Kymco dealer, and their asking price seems high to me. Unless they make a deal on it, I'll keep searching for another.
Anyone know how high is too high for a 2006 People 150?

I paid $1600 for my 2007 P150 two years ago, for what it's worth.

They're asking $1600. Just seems high for a 10 year old scoot.
Resale price I looked up on my 2012 Super8 150 was only $1400.

Seems high to me also. When I bought mine, I wasn't going to pay more than 1200 ish. Got it from Ebay at a MUCH better price. Good luck on your search.
