Sym opinions???
« on: December 15, 2015, 01:08:19 PM »
Hi. I just got my like 125 totally wrecked and looking to buy the same its getting imposible. They are asking way to much $ for it imo.
A new option here its a sym... they sre very well priced and the importer its way more serious than the kymco ppl who are a joke.
The bike its a joyride 200i evo actually 170cc lc fi dual disk etc.. like 200 its 163 fi.. no liquid cooling and lacks of many goodies the sym offers.
I never thought of getting the 200 but they are almost the same $ than de 125 which got over priced really bad.

Someone rode this sym or have any opinion?
Thanks

http://www.justgottascoot.com/symhd200.htm

Have heard nothing but pretty good remarks about this SYM 171cc engine.
Only 8cc's more than a LIKE200i - but MUCH more powerful and can reach @72mph!
Made in Taiwan, rather than China like the LIKE....2 yr warranty.
Good stuff....I looked at a SYM 200 and was quite impressed with the build quality - sadly no dealer support in my area - he was going out of business.
ALL of the SYM products I found to be very impressive. If the price is good or better than the Kymco 125 - I do not think you can go wrong by owning a new SYM. I think you will be very impressed, as I was.
I would have bought SYM if there was a good dealer about....parts in the USA were a problem for a time - but then SYM's don't need parts very often and can be ordered from Asia.

If you have a local dealer and the scoot fits you buy it.
I put over 10,000 miles on a SYM/Lance Cali Classic 125, see my sig line, and it never so much as burped! That sxoot is still on the road today. Tough as nails.

I also have a SYM RV200, the U.S. joyride, with almost 5k and it's also been stellar. Smooth a ton of power. Expect to see low 70 mph/GPS. Tons of flat floor and undersest storage is second to none. See the middle pic in my signature line.

Yeah you could say I like it ! You get the bonus of the FI to boot. Not that I've ever had a carb issue with it. Check out the video in this link.

Can't go wrong.

Very pleased with that info guys.. i imagined it was a nice product. Certainly better bike for the buck than a like...
On friday they are arriving and im certainly going to make a decision based on how i feel on the road test of it.
I didnt quite get the underseat storage phrase. Very lill? No chance to fit a full face? Im used to carry the helmet but id love to be able to store it underneath ;)

The Buddy and the Roughouse are products from Genuine scooters not SYM. That's said both are nice scoots.

Like you, my local dealer carries SYM, but not Kymco. I have a Lance PCH 150 (built by SYM) that I love and is very smooth and steady, but my plan is to eventually move up to that 171 cc engine. Just a rock solid power plant and quicker than snot. If you have good dealer support, get it. You won't be disappointed with the quality of the SYM brand.

Every comment i read... makes me even more confident of the sym!

I really loved my kymco..  and im at the kymco forum though... but its nice to get real opinions on a different producr and not just "get a kymco.. or go somewhere else to ask"
Ill be posting about this... and maybe a pic of the wrecked like which is stored on a friends house till i decide.what to do

SYM are good bikes. I have heard nothing but good things about them either. Kymco and SYM are both built  in Taiwan which makes a big difference. Remember you are not paying for the cost of a Honda and Yamaha. Since Kymco and SYM are not as well known this is where the savings come in. One of my friends paid about $3,800 for her Yamaha Zuma 125cc scooter here in Vegas. I purchased my Kymco Agility 125cc for $2,384 with all the doc fees and taxes included. I have been very happy with my Kymco since I have had her for over three years now. The bottom line is that Kymco and SYM are good bikes that will last a long time.

I almost bought a Lance Cali CLassic before I bought my Kymco Like 50 I really liked the look of it. It had lots of chrome and more bike style bars on it.

Today i took the day off... im planning to look at several things

1. 2015 like 125 with less than 1000mi 2500usd
2. 2012 daelim s1 with 1700mi 1800usd
3. 2012 like 125 5000mi 2000usd
4. Sym rv200 0mi 5000usd

I like the option of the sym but i has to blow literally my mind to spend those 5000. I might just wnd with the kymco. Also own a nice set of spares that ive got over this year of ownership. (Belt sliders pads air filter...)

Will see what goes on. Im carying cash today ;)

Wow that SYM is kinda pricey!  Too bad you're not near me...there remains a left over...repo'd new People 250 for sale at $2999.00.  And sure seller would deal on that figure.
I think I see why you might come home with anothet LIKE. ..plus you have spare parts!
(Me too, belts. .clutch and bell..brakes...injector....coil...filter. .iridiums...bulbs..and 12 pounds of screws bolts nuts rubber lines clips etc from a seller on ebay who parted out a wrecked 200i)
Good luck.....and what color will the LIKE be :-) ?
