Where is the spark plug on a Like200i?
« on: January 17, 2016, 02:14:30 AM »
We have two 2013 Like200i scooters. They have been garaged and taken care of. We live in Ohio. Went out to start them and one will not turn over. Kill switch is in the On position so it's not that. It's not the battery bc it is cranking on a jump start; it just won't turn over.
Thinking we may need to change the spark plug but can't find the location of it in the owner's manual. Also thinking it may be a fuse if it's not the spark plug?
Wondering if anyone has suggestions or guidance please as HOW to do this? Or if it may be something else?
Thanks so much for your time!

Remove the center cover and reach in on the left side (looking to the back of the scooter) of the engine. There you will find a black wire and a sparkplugcap going into the cylinderhead of the engine. pull out the sparkplugcap and use the onboard tools to remove the sparkplug.
If you cannot reach in there properly to remove the sparkplug, you will have to remove the seat with the luggagebox also in advance.
Then you will get to the plug easily.

But I doubt that its the sparkplug. These Like 200i Scooters are electronically managed and sensitive and need a perfect working strong battery. Always.
And because this Scooter is electronically managed I would be very very careful with jump start experiments (depending on the jump start source)...

The related fuses are in the battery compartement which you obviously have already found.

And by the way: Can you hear the fuel pumps humming noise underneath the seat at least for a few seconds when you turn the ignition key to on? Repeatedly?
If not maybe bad fuelpump. Use NON ethanol gas/fuel ONLY!

I also doubt it's the spark plug. If the bike started and ran fine the last time you used it, I doubt the spark plug went bad from just sitting. You've either got an electrical issue or a fuel delivery issue (bad fuel pump possibly).

We can start here...the CELP light is to the right of the two black clock buttons, below the fuel gauge
Any codes blinking when you do this ?

Please advise and we'll follow the trouble shooting procedures in the cyclepedia manual that I have.

You have two LIKE's?
One will not start?
Does the other start quite well?
If so, I'm thinking you have a weak battery in the non/hard starter....OR, your attempts have it slightly flooded. = hard start & poor running at idle.
You DO need a very healthy battery to get a good running LIKE200i with it's electronic fuel injection. If one starts easily...I'd put its battery in the poor runner and try.
Please advise...

Super!
Thanks for reporting back!
Started snowing down here - just as I was looking at the dry pavement and fueling my LIKE200i!

Good to know.
Nevertheless I would really like to see a few high quality pictures of that removed "bad" sparkplug...

Personally I never had any issue with sparkplugs in none of my vehilces and never in my whole driving lifetime. My present car is 8 years old, has over 60.000km on it and runs still fine with the original factory sparkplugs. I´m going to change them in coming spring for precaution purposes only and the service manual wants me to do so.
My Like 200i shows nearly 8.000km on the speedometer now, but never an issue with the sparkplug.
Nevertheless I always have a NGK spare sparkplug in my glovebox.  ;)
Cheers,
Robo

I threw away the old spark plug, otherwise I would share a pic to show you.
The top of it was all black, going from the tip of the spark plug to approximately two centimeters down.
Thanks again for everything and have a wonderful day!

Sometimes a nice new clean and dry properly gapped spark plug will overcome a slightly flooded engine from several start attemps.....after a weak battery and prolonged period of disuse.
Hard to clear a partially flooded cylinder with a battery not at full song.
Wonder how many miles on the scooter. ..and period since valves checked.

A GREAT replace plug is the NAOR14LGS from brisk. Go on Amazon and type in performance plug, shows 2- 1 yellow, ORDER it, 1 comes. Equal to the cr7hsa plug that comes with it.
