Led headlight & parking lights
« on: January 23, 2016, 05:46:06 PM »
I successfully converted to led headlight and parking lights, only requiring some light modifications to fit.

The actual led lamp.

At dusk,  not even on brights!

your lights look great,  I have HID lights on mine, and your lights look better, do they light up the road 200 to 300 feet ahead,. looking at the bulb it reflex off of the light case, not off of the bulb alone, that is the thing about the HID bulbs, does not reflect much off the light case,  not to good on a 300 cc bike, speed to fast for the lights, that is why I installed two spot LED  lights , on the side of the scooter, same level as the headlights, so they would get more distance,. about 250 feet

De dee, I have not ridden the scoot at night yet, so cannot say how far ahead the led lights will illuminate the road.
I am expecting oncoming traffic to flash their lights at me because mine are shining into their eyes.
That is what happened after I installed the spots.

Hi. I am interested in finding out what modifications you had to do.

Greg, it was not much. The original securing spring, I just had to bend it a bit to fit below the huge heat sink at the rear of the lamp. Pliers, very easy.
The adaptors for the various lamp types, mine being h4,there is a small screw to secure it on the lamp. Access to this crew was impossible without drilling a small hole through the plastic housing of the whole headlight assembly, so a screwdriver could fit through.
This hole was through the lip that the original rubber boot was holding onto, so not actually into the airspace behind the headlight assembly glass.
I then made a tube of flat rubber(superglue the ends)  and fitted that over the lip where the original rubber boot was mounted, thus effectively covering the drilled hole.
It should not be taller than 10cm,as mine is 15cm and I saw it bent out of shape against the frame once the front panel was reinstalled.
