Unending exhaust leak Kymco People 150
« on: February 14, 2016, 06:43:14 PM »
Hello everyone. I have an exhaust leak on my People 150 I cannot seem to get rid of. The leak is at the flange where the exhaust pipe meets the engine. I have replaced the gasket twice and it works for a short time then the leak comes back. I suspect I may be guilty of over-tightening the nuts when I put them on. I am a little worried about the nuts falling off. (I know, insert pun here:) Anyway, could over tightening the gasket cause this issue? I may be crushing it a little too much and not allowing for expansion/contraction.

I have a 2012 People 150 with the same problem, it started a week after I have new tirs mounted at the Kymco dealer. I replace the gasket with no lasting effect, it started leaking again after about two weeks. I removed the exhaust and looked at the gasket ring and it still looked new. My fix, let the darn thing leak a little, doesn't bother me. I have 18000 klm on my unit waiting for the spring thaw.
