That's probably the route I would have taken some 15 years ago.. but the little A125 is
as fast as I need it to be around town, and the only thing I'll be looking to improve is it's
fuel mileage as I ride a lot and am on a very tight monthly budget.

There IS an Agility 150 available (both the old and new City R16) with about 10,5hp and
that's an option I might consider, swapping out the engine parts, but not before mine hits
at least 20.000km.

If your tight budget doesn't allow you to have a 125 cc with a fuel mileage of only 3 l/100 km, then it's probably a better idea to stay home and just use your feet as means of transportation or, better yet, not have a scooter at all, isnt' it?
After all, there's just a tad more than a fuel consumption and that's fun and joy while riding, no matter what the cc's are, I hope you realize that.

What exactly can you improve? Drop the consumption from 3.0 to 2.9 l/100 km if you are very careful? :)

I was looking more at around 2,86l, but you get the idea.

I've got a 650cc Kawasaki for fun and joy, the Agility will be my main A to B transportation, and I'll use it for
work too (bike courier), so fuel consumption is one of the top priorities.

As Axy said, they never hit Croatia either, but it should be an easy upgrade to do.

Maybe I am not a good mechanic, but anything that means touching the engine on 4stroke is not easy upgrade for me...

I bet the crankshaft needs to be changed too with such an "upgrade"... and camshaft costs more than piston+cylinder...

All gaskets that would need to be changed cost like that crankshaft I have mentioned!

In that case, and any other case of "engine upgrades", total cost would be smaller if you buy People 200 straightforward...

Not to mention that it would consume much more gasoline! >:)) :) :)

My People 250 needs >5.5 l/100 km on the highway two up - disaster according to your standards! :)

It's disaster according to many things.. one of them being that I haven't seen over 5L/100km on my
Kawasaki with almost 4x more power  ;D .. and I usually average around 4,3-4,5l!

I have no idea about the differences between the 125 and 150, and I haven't found any sites that mention
them. I DO know that kymco offers a 70 (or 80cc?) kit for their Agility 50 that just bolts right on without
changing anything else and costs the same as a new 50cc cylinder kit.

If that's the same case with 125 vs 150, it should be the cheapest (only?) way of improving both the
acceleration and top speed slightly.

4,3-4,5 liters? My God, dear man, are you even moving with that bike at all?
I think there's a lot of work just to replace 125 cc with the 150 cc. It's not just bolt-on, even with the 70cc's is a lot of work. Probably a better idea just buy some 150cc right away.

1. You probably do not use throttle much. My ZR-7S hovered around 6.5 l/100 km under normal conditions, and well above 11 l/100 km at top speed on the highway.
4.5 l is feasible on 600 cc if you drive around in top gear at low revs.

Personally I do not like to think about consumption otherwise I would not buy a vehicle (car, bike, quad). I would rather ride on a bus than think about money all the time, especially when cars/bikes are in question and I like driving *a lot*.

Most 200-250 cc scooters do 4.3-4,5l/100 km under normal conditions. I think it is impossible to go under 4 on 200+ cc 4 stroke, maybe if you are <165 cm and <55 kg and extremely careful with the throttle.

You will be happy to hear that my car's trip computer was showing yesterday 20 l/100 km on the highway and I was pushing the pedal maybe 2/3...

2. As I said, the gaskets you have to change and other "small items" cost as much as the kit costs... and also, the work is not done by itself, you have to pay for it.
When you sum it all up, you might as well have purchased 150 cc in the first place and it would be much more reliable than aftermarket kit about which you know close to nothing in terms of quality control and assurance.

My mechanic uses a small file in order to remove/cut the metal debris that was not adequately processed in the kit factory...

Also, when you install "a kit" the first thing that goes down the drain is stock crankshaft.

It happened to me when I had 2 stroke NRG 72 cc kit. It was going like hell until one day stock crankshaft broke.
It is not made to support 50 % more hp (or 100 % in my case).

That's what the guys in german motorrad got as an average fuel consumption after
50.000km too, and they even measured the lowest consumption on a complete tank at
3,6 or 3,7l/100km, doing 50-60mph on open roads.

It's got a lot of torque and isn't that heavy, so using low revs is possible.. 5th around town etc.
Not that big of a deal really, the  BMW's F800 series can do even more km/l and is 150cc more
and a lot faster bike.

ZR7 is a very different beast, heavier, more ccs, and most importantly, it's carbed, and you re-jetted it!
The ER6 has fuel injection, and it's a twin.. more torque down low so..

Feasible? Averaging 100-110km/h on open roads (usually do 80-90 where the sign says 70) from Osijek to Pozega, and
even with some fun over the twisty bits on Krndija, I usually hit exactly 4,0L when I get there. 100km on the dot, and
I'm still the one overtaking everyone, and never get overtaken myself. That's what 6th gear roll-on torque will do.

'Kralj' averages 6,5l on his ZX6R on the same ride with me.

Running around on the Agility is gonna be cheaper then riding a bus for sure, and I need it for work so.. it's gonna be fun too.
As for the fuel consumption again.. yeah, that's what averages are, the People 200 is probably under 4L though, but it's not
even full 200ccs.

I've had Peugeot Geopolis 400 and Satelis 500 in for reviews while I worked at the newspaper I mentioned and got 4,5L out of
the 400 (it's a 200kg scooter) riding around town like a maniac (bare in mind Osijek is FLAT) and some of it 2up with a 100kg
friend. I did around 300km and calculated the consumption 3 times.

I took the Satelis on the same Osijek - Pozega - Osijek route, rolling on the throttle to the stops out of every corner, most
accelerations were flat-out when overtaking, but I (again) didn't do over 110km/h for long periods, maybe just a few times
to see how fast the thing will go (I got around 165 on the dash). So, rather agressive open road riding, but solo this time,
and this thing weighs around 230kg.. - exactly 4L/100km. I guess it's all about being smooth.

Both of those use Piaggio m.a.s.t.e.r engines (the 500 was 49x cc, not the older 460cc).

I was talking about the original kymco parts that make the 150cc engine..
If the crankshaft is the same (and it could be, since it's only ~1ks more powerfull), it might last just as long,
OR I missed Agility 150 reviews somewhere that say it's not as reliable as the 125.

Anyways, not that important really, I'd never do it, I'd rather get the People 200.

I'm not sure I followed the thread correctly. As for increasing cc's I like the idea of custom matching parts. That is the whole joy in doing the mod to begin with. Kymco has the strongest crank shafts you can buy. There are prettier set-ups, but none stronger. I considered buying a basket case 125cc to install the engine in my zx/50, but after alot of soul searching I decided that would be cheating. If you compare mileage from a stock 50cc, and a modified  125cc their is an obvious loss. If you compare the modified 125 (50cc base) to a stock 125 the loss is MUCH less, but the performance is thru the roof. I believe it is more fun, and you have a better feel for your scoot if you customize vs bolt on. I guess if I wanted a Harley, I would have bought a Harley. I want a scoot that can beat a Harley.

I do it all the time, up to about 50mph that is! ;D  I had a CBR1000RR that was getting so frustrated he couldn't keep up in traffic!  I was laughing the whole time!  He had a girl on the back too, made him look like a fool! ;D
