« on: February 12, 2010, 05:33:22 AM »
I really want to get my scoot running, I wont be able to work on it this weekend ONCE AGAIN. Its supposed to snow on Monday and I havent had time during the week due to school/work anyway!!!  I guess Im gonna have to wait a WHOLE WEEK once again, well Ill tell you what next weekend NOTHING IS GOING TO GET IN MY WAY!!!!!  I am about to turn into the Incredible Hulk and tear some stuff up!  JUST WANT TO RIDE AGAIN.  There is still the problem of not exactly knowing whats going on as well but cant figure it out till I have time to fiddle.  If I cant get it next weekend to the shop we go :-\

Did the 72 cc kit put together correctly, timed correctly, and all hookups are correctly hooked up.  I haven't put the exhaust on yet but when I sprayed ethanol in the carb it didnt start I am going to make sure valves are adjusted correctly when I get a chance to work on it.  It could also be the cdi, but scoot would start and run before big bore kit was installed so I am skeptical about the cdi.  I would think with the ethanol sprayed in the carb it would have started so im thinking there isnt a spark, so i am planning on gettting a new plug as well.  If those things dont work I was going to take it to a shop So unless you can think of anything else let me know im open to suggestions.

I hope you're spraying ether, not ethanol in the carb.

No doubt on the ether. I would think you are on the right track with the new plug, and double checking the valves. when cranking the engine do you feel GOOD STRONG compression?

Have you checked for spark by plugging in the spark plug and carefully touching the metal threaded part to the engine case while cranking the motor?  You should be able to easily see the spark jumping across the the electrode.  Just be sure to hold the rubber insulated part of the plug cap!  Don't be too afraid, it doesn't hurt too bad if you do get shocked! ;)

I was planing on checking it I have a spark plug tester, but there isnt a cap on the plug so it wouldnt work,  I couldnt find a cap anywhere, but I havent tried putting it up against anything yet wont be able to get to it till next weekend  :-\

The compression test will show if there is a problem with the valve lash or timing.

..dude, i hope you figure out what happened...

..so, if i got this right...you did the kit..verified timing is correct...seems you installed a new stator...

..was it compatible with your cdi ??? ...did you verify that it will work with a kymco A50 cdi?
